Might want to add that I had this for over 2 years already. All my other mounts fell off the windshield and got tired of remounting. This one has never fallen off. I just wet the suction a little, set it and forget it..lol!

Will it also close completely? Is that the short arm ram mount?

It doesn't close completely. Probably 80%. From the website - "Arm is 3.69" long and works with any 1" RAM ball". Not sure if they have a longer one.

Can't wait to see how this turns out @Alloutdrs1! Do you have the model # for that RAM mount?

    Here's the link to it
    https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-102-UN10U

    It was $44 on Amazon.

Got it installed tonight, really nice setup. I use my phone for navigation and music so I wanted a mount that was higher up so I didn't have to look down at the phone. I will post up some pics of it installed in the morning.

I like the idea of the small magnetic mount. For those that have them, does the metal disc on the phone case prevent wireless charging when the phone is brought back into the house?

I just ordered the hondo garage vent mount. Can't wait. I already use the ram x-grip in my other car. Excellent phone holder.

Yes it does. It also hinders Apple pay or Android pay if you use that.

You will like that mount, I'm very pleased with it. The new design also allows the vent to be manipulated more then the previous version.

Its very sturdy and the magnet you put behind your cellphone is very strong. On and off easily without having to push in or out of that holder

Try Wizgear. These are magnetic and mount to vents or directly.

I really want to get the Proclip, but it looks like even minor vibrations of the dash would cause the clip to rub off the silver paint underneath. I’m thinking may be a thin piece of foam or plastic between the clip and the paint might protect against rubbing.

If I remember correctly there is a thin foam adhesive strip pre-installed with the clip for this very reason, I will have to check. Believe it or not where I ran into the paint rubbing as you mention was from the coiled lighting cable. Its very minor and I didn't notice it until I was detailing about a week ago but the cable is a cheap one I bought of eBay and the rubber housing is not completely smooth (little rough) so over time is has started to rub the silver paint a bit. Really won't notice the marks unless your the truck owner but it was enough for me to ditch the coiled cable and go back to regular cord type cable. If the rubber jacket was smooth I don't think I would have this problem just haven't put much effort into searching for a new one yet.

This could be excessive for some people viewing this post but it is still more info for everyone. There is also a sale going on now as well, but with a little bit of a back order.

    https://www.ics-fab.com

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/ics-fab-2014-dash-mount-ram-mount-compatible.38643/

It is a mount that allows you to mount multiple devices in any configuration you want. The instal video is top notch on their website also if you have questions about that. Again, I know it may be a bit more than some people want, but if you get two phone mounts and a tablet mount in the middle and instal it, you are pretty much set for any scenario you ever find yourself in in the future.

^I have this same set up, and same problem - it blocks a part of the display which can get annoying. I bought a cheap-o unit from Amazon for about $15, it works - but has its limitations. I am upgrading to the Hondo garage/Ram X-clip mount - excited to get that setup. I have the column shifter, so hopefully it doesn't interfere with that.
