Just got a 2018 DC. It has a USB charging port. Got a cord from Wally world says 10 Gbps, looks like my home charging cord. When hooked up in truck phone says charging slowly, but the charge % on my google pixel 3 is going down the whole time it is suppose to be charging. Do I have a cord problem or USB charging port problem?

The phone with this cord charges fine in the house.

Typically a USB port charges at 500mA. Wall chargers are anywhere between 1-3mA it's likely the charger just doesn't provide enough power.

I have a 2018 and that USB port doesnt charge worth a shit. I got a cigarette lighter adapter and it works great.

Hell, I didnt even think the USB was hooked up it was so weak.

So, this is a truck charger issue rather than a cord ? Go for the cig charger set up?

^^^This...USB barely does anything for charging, your laptop is the same way most likely, it's not a problem with the truck.

No problem with my old Iphone, but when i switched to android the usb wouldnt charge or be used for music. It has to do with how androids connect. You have to use a cig usb charger like @Festerw linked and use bluetooth for music

$94 for his first batch. We need 40 more orders before James orders them for us. Spread the word!

I believe the USB port in the truck is to interface with the Entune head unit. It has some power on it and does charge my old Iphone, but it is slow.

My iphone was a pretty old and charged normally. Newer Iphones probably take more charge causing it to be slower, but Androids wont charge at all. Not even a little. They wont connect to the HU through usb either, but its because of android and not the trucks usb.

When a vehicle comes with a single USB port it's usually just meant for data transfer. I installed an aftermarket USB charging port into my truck (mine didn't have one) and it can supply up to 2.1A.

A 1-3 mA wall charger? I don't believe that such a thing exists. All of the USB chargers that I have ever used have had ratings over 2A.

You're right I goofed, should have been 1-3A. The power range has gone up significantly in the past couple years. I've got a couple that only charge at 750mA, probably from my 2010ish era Droid X.
