Powder coated wheels. Slowly working on the blackout. Badges are next.

heres the new angle. You can see where the Toyota grill emblem is

    surprisingly pretty centered...

    That does look great.

Do you think you will leave it as is? If not, another suggestion might be to make a template out of cardboard and then fab a new plate out of thinner gauge sheet aluminum/metal and use that with same concept of a larger washer behind the plate for a compression type fit.

Just a thought in case you wanted to move it back to the bottom.

now that I see that it’s pretty centered on screen, I might.

I didn’t want to put too much work into it. Plus I think the raptor lights are gonna go soon? I saw 2 out of the 3 have lost the protective front cover so when they go, I might pull the whole assembly and then put the camera centered

That is a bummer to hear about the grille lights. I think you can get replacement lights for them so you do not have to scrap them entirely because I think they look neat.

Maybe the ones I used from superbrightleds can be an easy and cost effective alternative.

I was going to go the plate fit on each honeycomb route that I suggested earlier. However, every stinking opening was different and I got unenthused quickly. Instead, I used some light, rigid aluminum angle iron.

I painted them black and installed them with the 3M exterior/auto grade double sided tape similar to the kind used on the badges.

I ran the wiring inside a loom with a connector that runs along upper part of the grille, again using double sided tape. It has been super solid thus far through snow, cold, and plenty of bucket washes.

I was about $32 into the project and feel it was a very easy, satisfying mod. If one or more go out I can easily pop in a replacement. At $2.95 per LED, I bought up a whole other set of five to have on hand as replacements.

Instead of five, like I have, do four and leave your camera in the middle.

Nice! I go back and forth on wanting them or not. I do like them and then sometimes I'm like, it's a ford thing, not toyota lol

I made my own kit and bought some lights on Amazon for like $20 before when I had the tacoma. Seems like it's the same or very similar lights as what I have now. I would of done it myself but wanted a plug and play kit, paid too much for it, and ended up re-doing the wiring as I ended wiring it to a switch lol

I think what I might end up doing is when it goes out, remove them and wiring in a different set in the hood bulge instead

Not this one but something similar to below:

    I get that.

Speaking on the subject, with my father, a trucker (therefore, a lights and more lights enthusiast), he is quick to remind me (and others) that DOT/clearance lights have been “a thing” well before 2010 when Ford decided to call them “raptor lights”. He has always installed some sort of light(s) in/on all of his vehicles since the 60’s. His 2000 Tundra had three in the grille for awhile but then dropped off one for balance...

Long, short, your ride will be fabulous with them or not because it is your preference that matters!

Also, like the hood bulge light route you are also suggesting!

    Cheers and great day!

Picked this up today. Left behind my 2010 DC, but it was worth it. Ive been looking for this truck for a while. Found it about 4 hours away and my local dealer made it happen! The plan was to put some miles on these brand new tires before i swapped, but i dont think its gonna happen.

I installed some EZFlares to protect the under side of the flares. Came out alright I think, once again the blue pops with black

Welcome to the club. I've found you really will get a lot of compliments on the color. The people at my local dealership had never had this color on the lot. I picked it up a couple weeks ago and there were constantly people commenting on it.

Do any of our Cavalry Blue owners have color matched door handles? I'm looking for the part number for paintable door handles.

So I might be pulling the trigger on a 2020 sport in Calvary blue. Tho I love the blue there's so much of it lol. So I'd like to do a like matte black hood decal. But I'd like one that goes on and around the hood scoop and I can for the life of me find one. Something similar to like the taco pro hood decal. Any suggestions?

I haven't found anything for the hood like the taco has but I have been looking at the black center of the bumper to break it up a bit. I will say in real life the blue isnt as overwhelming as it looks in pics.

That was what made me not look at the sport. That and the scoop. Don't look at the truck as it sits now, look at what you will do with it. If you are going to put an aftermarket bumper on it (Lots of great options) then that will take care of the blue overload. As far as a hood decal, you can vinyl anything you want if you have the time and patience. Just ask @Jim LE 1301 cuz he did his scoop in black. Not a Cavalry Blue, but he can point you in the right direction.

This is a great idea. There are some slim winch bumpers that would do the same thing, if you need a winch. Southern Style Off-road has one, I think, along with Victory4x4.

    Thanks Dane, I appreciate it!

No worries, $30 total out the door for the powder coating. They are a fairly close match to the TRD rear sway bar and the exact same color of my calipers.
