You used the wording to get what you started the thread for, and that was drama.

I felt like my brand new truck shutting down and failing to operate on the roadway was catastrophic. Obviously this platform doesn’t agree. I’m not a social media/forum guy. I haven’t posted and engaged in “chats” or “conversations” on forums before. I don’t want/need attention or drama. I have read a lot about this 3rd Gen Tundra and have not seen the issue I had posted or talked about. If this group thinks I posted for drama, as you accuse me of, I’ll delete it. As a guy that doesn’t post reviews or get in chats…I thought a Toyota Tundra groups would be interested in my situation. The first person to comment indicated there would be “trolling” or whatever. Consider that noted.

You still never answered a few basic questions about the truck to help identify a possible cause.

Did you even read the thread about fuel gauges reseting to full? Maybe yours is empty. Maybe it’s not.

Did you do like another forum member and incorrectly install an aftermarket intake causing the engine to stall? Who knows.

And I no longer care. Too much drama…

Nothing aftermarket. It’s a stock brand new truck. The dealers don’t know,
So how would I know. I’m in Texas.
No drama, but you’re Canadian and I’m Texan. So maybe we have a miscommunication. Nothing aftermarket and it’s a stock new truck with less than 5,000 miles. The dealers are lost and called in support from the engineering team. I thought this was a platform to share issues and discuss as friends. I don’t need your attention or anyone else’s. Just trying to share an issue I had. I look forward to you disappearing, as you have added nothing and clearly aren’t interested in the issue with my Tundra. Stay safe.

There are no jokes from me, I honestly feel bad for you. This is something that shouldn't have happened with a new truck, but one thing you should be able to count on is that Toyota should take care of you while they fix it. Good luck.

thank you, I’m not a “poor pitiful me” guy. Shit happens. I’ve learned a lot from reading forums over the years and was just trying to give back with my experience. I’m confident in Toyota, I’ve had two Tacomas and this is my first Tundra. I know it’s a brand new and there will be problems. Not trying to hate. It seems to be a new issue, even according to Toyota, so just trying to give back to this Toyota community with my experience so far. This forum has helped me alot just from reading hundreds of comments. Not trying to get attention or cause drama. I get plenty of that from work lol.

That sucks. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It's a new truck so it must be causing some anxiety. I sure hope it's something simple that they can fix pretty quickly.

So, just out of curiosity... What happened between the 'catastrophic failure' at 4,400 miles and the 5,544 miles displayed in the photo of your dash in your original post?? I am missing a series of events here, or is there a discrepancy or typo between what you typed and what is depicted in the original photo you posted??

Wow really? Here on big island I've seen a couple dozen Sr5s driving around, couple limited, a few platinum, and only 1 1794. Dealer here said that as of a few weeks ago less than 15 came thru dealer. The rest came straight from mainland. Hope you get urs sooner than later!

BlackThunder please keep us updated and pay no mind to the people on here trying to add salt to your wounds. I can totally relate to your situation, it does feel “catastrophic” when a new $60k plus truck that you’ve grown to love fails on you. I felt the same way. We come to this forum looking for support and also to inform others of problems or concerns that others with the 3rd Gen may experience during ownership. I appreciate you sharing whatever issue this turns out to be and your dealers resolution. Hopefully it does get resolved quickly.

That trolling comment wasn't directed at you. Any time a post is made about a problem with the 22 Tundra it seems to get flooded with comments by owners of the previous Gen just saying "22 sucks and mine is better".

Hope your "catastrophic failure" or "slight inconvenience" whichever you choose to call it gets straightened out. :rofl:I think your word choice was good since it happened in the middle of the highway. A slight inconvenience would be if it happened in your driveway.

Hope you can get the answers you're looking for.

It has been a week since my transmission went on my 22 tundra, there has been no communication from the dealership or toyota Canada on what is happening. To make matters worse since I didn't get the extended warranty I don't get a rental or loaner while I wait.

What happened to your transmission? I have a post about the issues with mine. Turned out to be a bad solenoid and took about 9 days to fix. Are you out of warranty already? Why would they not give you a rental for the time you are in the shop?

I was driving and tried to speed up to 80 km an hour when I noticed I wasn't gaining anymore speed, I was able to pull it over and stop. Shut the engine off and restarted it but had no driving gears. There's was no was sounds like something broke and no warning lights or messages.

The dealership has no idea why or what is wrong other than the fact the transmission or torque converter is shot. They were the first to tell me that I don't get a rental vehicle while warranty work is being done because I didn't purchase the "extended warranty". I spoke with Toyota Canada and they confirmed I do not get a rental. The issue has been escalated and I'm still waiting to hear back. The dealership has had the truck since July 13th, it was bought in early January and has less than 10000 kms.

it’s hard to see but there is the little wrench icon next to that 5,544, showing that’s how many miles left until it wants an oil change.

There is no drama in this thread, it's a guy sharing his experience that he thought others would like to know about. I know I'm glad he posted it and I'm curious to see what the cause is as those of us who own a 22 Tundra should know if this is a one off thing such as a fuse rattling loose or something of much more concern.

I bet if it blew a rod through the block OP would get it back faster. Just a simple engine swap, one part.

Don't listen to these guys who want to nitpick your semantics and even your odo. They're just as whiney here as any other forum but there are more punisher logos. Your post is useful. Thank you for sharing and I hope you get some resolution quickly.

This is pure BS, the truck is new and out of your psossession. In the US they need to give you a loaner. If that is different in Canada that is BS.

What does not having an extended warranty have to do with a failure during the primary more left than expired warranty?????

No drama? This dude comes in here with the audacity to post something negative about his 3rd gen. He must be cancelled immediately!!

My guess is those chastising him for using the word "catastrophic" must have all been previous Ford/Chevy/Ram owners where events such as the OP is dealing with are merely "part of the ownership experience." Toyota owners ain't used to that kind of BS.

Ha, same. I put down a deposit the day were allowed to and they held a lottery. As with all chance based games, I did not win. They gave me my money back and I moved on.
