It killed the engine and he needed a tow that's in the ballpark.

I put down a 5k deposit for a TRD Pro at the same time I ordered my original TRD Sport. Was told when I picked up the new Tundra that there are (4) TRDPros allotted to the Windward Dealership and (20) people with deposits, so they will be having some sort of lottery to determine placement. Hoping I get lucky.

true but for a person driving their car and it just dies completely in the street, that is pretty catastrophic at least the symptom.

When the 5.7 Tundra 1st came they were snaping cam shafts. Toyota fixed them with new engines. Everything breaks, give them a chance to fix it.

When did you put down payment? I put mine on Dec 1st and still waiting. I ordered a 1794 TRD Off Road though. I did hear that all the upper trims have QC holds or delays on them. Hopefully I get it before end of year!

I mentioned earlier, catastrophic may have been a poor choice of words. However, the truck stopped working while driving. So the engine and transmission falling out of the truck, or whatever happened to mine….the vehicle became inoperable in the main lanes of the road way and had to be towed away. So feel free to replace catastrophic with whatever.

Toyota Denton (TX) says they believe the issue is related to the fuel pump, rails, injectors, or a computer issue. They have no idea what to do, and a specialist is coming from Toyota engineering to evaluate the problem. Evidently they haven’t seen this so far in the 3rd Gens. They gave me a RAV4 and said, we are gonna have your truck for a while.

They have no clue on how to test fuel pressure? Really?

Any comments on my previous questions?

First time I’ve been engaged in a forum posting. Evidently “catastrophic” (adjective: catastrophic
    1. involving or causing sudden great damage or
    2. extremely unfortunate or unsuccessful.) is frowned upon.

Next time I will use “slight inconvenience” or “an oopsie” to better describe my experience to the public. See I’m already learning things here!

On the bright side you will save some money on gas. My daughter loved the Rav4 I bought her. She liked it even better after driving it for 4 years, 80k miles and the only thing she had to fix was a leaky windshield. Windshield was replaced and not sealed properly. Bought it used $14,500 and traded on a Lexus for $11,500.

Your truck is broken and will be inoperable for an undetermined amount of time because they don’t even know what’s wrong. That’s catastrophic. People in here like Monty Python getting their limbs chopped off and saying “tis but a flesh wound!” Nope.

Good luck OP. Hopefully they can get it fixed and this will be nothing more than an anomaly in the truck’s life.

They will not cover your payments, speaking from experience. I tried this with corporate and got nowhere, you agreed to a price and warranty terms, still gotta pay what you agreed to. If it turns out to be a lemon, that's when you'll get ALL of you money back.

On the bright side, my truck was supposed to be in the shop for weeks waiting for parts. My constant nagging with corporate did get parts expedited and it was out of the shop in 9 days. I'd recommend following up with your case manager daily.

I appreciate it, and agree. I’m not looking to get a different new truck or a TRD OffRoad just because my SR5 shit the bed. But…I will be on their back the whole way through this process. Shit happens. My job gives me a front row seat to how peoples daily lives can go to shit. I’m just saying for the price I paid (yes I know it was my choice) they have some work to do.

Well….I hope you get lucky on the pro!

We put a deposit on the sequioa pro. Hopefully we don run into any hiccups with that.

We put deposits on an SR5 for me and Sequioa Pro for the wife back in December too. Was notified no luck on the sr5 gas. So opted for a lunar rock limited hybrid trd offroad.

a simple valve or rod failure could do the same too…I’ve been hit while stalled on the highway, the reason the vehicle stalled to me was irrelevant, although I did consider it a catastrophic mechanical failure as it immediately rendered my vehicle inoperable. You’re right, maybe a fuse or relay. But according to Toyota that’s not it. Also not the point related to you not approving of my word choice. I guess a “simple out of gas” could cause the same too huh?? Let me figure out how to post an emoji to end my post…
