I mean... It seems to me that tundras don’t like aftermarket 02 sensors improperly placed. They probably don’t care about the cats at all.

From what I have seen most guys are sticking the 02 sensors in the bung in the catalytic converters themselves instead of oem downstream in a bung. That to me seems like it would work good. Anyone have any experience with that?

Didn't know there was an actual location in the cat to stick an o2 sensor?

There are on the aftermarket ones. Almost every aftermarket setup I see is that way.

I don’t know anything about aftermarket O2 sensors. I installed OEM Toyota sensors into the bung of aftermarket cats, and eventually the P0430 cat inefficiency code came up. P0430 is not a sensor code, it’s a cat code that my mechanic warned was likely to come up with aftermarket cats. I’m not saying all aftermarket cats will throw a similar code, but there’s something to be said about OEM sensors AND OEM cats that make them less likely to fail or throw codes in the long run.

Unfortunately, OEM cats are backordered for months. One member on here posted he’s been waiting for more than 6 months for OEM cats. I don’t know if there’s a backorder fior O2 sensors right now, but there was none when I ordered them last year. If there is no backorder for OEM sensors, I would definitely get those, though, just to be on the safe side.

What if you use the spacer method with sparkplug defoulers?

I’ve never tried those and know very little about them. I’ll have to look into that more.

I've never done this myself but have heard others who run straight pipes are able to do this trick with success also. https://youtu.be/J1pOJ1Hn-wQ
