I’m looking for anyone who has installed the carven catback exhaust on their tundra. How do you like it? Does it drone? Is it too loud or obnoxious?

I haven’t really seen anyone complaining about it which is good. But I’m nervous, I already ordered the exhaust and it’s at my house but I’m having second thoughts about putting it on. Don’t want it to drone or be obnoxious inside the cabin

If you search carven in entire tundras site there are posts. But the consensus on this site for no drone is dirty deeds ba muffler. I received mine bam 8 but haven’t installed yet until my truck is repaired next week from wreck damage.

You could always get a resonator from Keith at Dirty Deeds.

The thing with the bam for me is the price. I live in Ny and really need stainless. His stainless kit is $949, carven is stainless and is $650 shipped to my door (with discount code). I know bam is doing a group buy but still over $200 more expensive

He’s doing a group buy now, so the 949 is not the price.

I understand that but at this point it’s $100 off roughly, so still $849 which is $200 more expensive than carven

I waited for a BAMuffler group buy sale before ordering my stainless system from Keith, it was worth the wait.

I’m just wondering what the experiences are with carven. I had one on my 14’ Silverado and it was great. But the silverados for some reason are inherently quiet to start with so idk how comparative that is to a tundra. It’s a full catback as opposed to a muffler replacement section.

I also pondered about Carven but I read some posts about them having drone. So I jumped on the group buy last year. I have the 8” from Keith with no resonator (didn’t put it on). I’m quite happy with it. Keith’s customer service is great. It maybe be a little more to go with it but it’s worth it. So my personal suggestion is go with BAMuffler @dirtydeeds. Give him a call and he can help you select which one would best fit what sound you are looking for.

How does the 8” sound? Loud? Moderate?

Moderately loud on acceleration is what folks have been reporting.

Best way I could describe it is that it’s loud when you stomp on it. And just cruising around you know it’s there. I have a camper shell and roll my back window down so the dogs can stick their heads through and the sound is not annoying at all. I love it. So I’d say moderate just normal driving and loud when you get on it. But not annoying loudness. Sounds like it should. Again I did not put the resonator on.

If you tow a lot I believe he suggests the 10” system. I talked with Keith before I bought mine and decided with the 8”. He’s very knowledgeable wouldn’t hurt just to call him and talk with him.

No problem sir. If I was home I would send you a recording of it. But I won’t be home for another 3 weeks. I have to say it’s the best sounding exhaust I have heard. No regrets on my purchase at all.

I've been running the carven catback system for close to a year now & have ZERO complaints about it. Sounds great at idle, cruising speeds, when I get on the gas it sounds amazing. I recommend carven 100%

No drone at all? In your opinion on a scale of 1-10 how loud is it?

15'TeRD I put mine on about a month ago and love the Carven exhaust with the exception of one thing. At 1800-1950 RPM there is almost seems like a drone sound when driving around 40. I am wondering if I have it tilted up too close to the rear bumper. Can you post a pic of how yours sits behind the wheel?

With the above being asked/ said I LOVE this exhaust. Cruising speeds at about 80 it is very low, when you stomp the gas it sounds like you are in a race car. I am constantly getting compliments on how it sounds.

Good to know! How bad is the drone at 40? Ungodly? Or ?

It does not bother me, but my wife made a comment. I am a fan of loud pipes so I may not be the greatest judge, I would be interested to see if others have the same feedback. For me I feel you will have some noise regardless of what exhaust you choose, what I can say is the sounds that comes out of the back of this thing when you get on it far exceeds this one small bump.

I would purchase this exhaust again.

We just went from Nashville, TN to Orlando, FL and back and it did great.

I can send you a Bamufflers system for $200 less WITHOUT HELMHOLTZ RESONATOR, that’s comparing apples to apples. But if drone is a concern, I recommend a helmholtz resonator no matter which you choose.

Another benefit, at anytime, anybody can call and speak with me, I’m the engineer of their exhaust system. No other company let’s you speak directly to the engineer of your custom built exhaust just for you, not just your truck. 760-877-4234

You have the budget system from dirtydeeds? And then installed a carven muffler?

Search this site, I recall reading a good thread about that exhaust. The person ended up taking it off because drone on long trips was too much.
