For a lightweight version try a piece of PVC 3/4” thats 4’x8’ in size. Rout some handles in the tailgate end of the PVC so you can grab the sheet and slide it out.

The PVC is fairly light (35lbs) and doesn’t take up more than 3/4” height due to not needing tracks and sliding/mounting hardware.

You’ll only be able to slide it out 1/3 the depth of your bed unless you put some stiffeners under to accomodate for overhang. You could even build some 1/4” walls around the perimeter and/or section off the middle to accomodate your needs. Just some ideas.

I agree the loss of some storage height is a drawback of the Bedslide. I specifically purchased the ARB 63 quart fridge for the lower profile.

I went with a truck cap over a BedSlide. Very pleased with the BedSlide so far.

Yeah took me a couple hours. You'll need a friend to help lift some pieces in to the bed.

I didn't want a cap because of the height restrictions. I don't want to go higher than where I am now, but I am going to have to lower the rack because I picked up a roof tray I need to fit.

I have a full rack from BAMF and highly recommend it. I also run it with a bedslide or bedslide mounted on top of a Truckvault depending on what we are doing. Love the look and functionality of all of it.

I was looking at the diamond back plus rack. Way expensive 300.00 for each rack plus 2k for the tonneau cover. With no accessories. Basically the set up I would like, but way out there.

I use the bedslide a lot more often. If I build an off-road/overlanding trailer I will definitely put the drawers in the trailer.

Drawers are super handy for those tools and random pieces of gear you don’t need everyday but are nice to have a spot for on a camping trip, is my opinion.

I agree, looks like I will make up my own one. Do it just half the bed so I can still fit the cooler.. or come to think of it, I can make a drop bracket and have it roll near flush with the bed. Time to draw up some plans. If anyone is interested, there is a decked system on FB Marketplace in Troy NY for $450. Super steal.

Got any pics of your bikes loaded with the rack and tailgate up? This seems like a potentially awesome set up to run bikes and a RTT

How are you liking it? How does the quality on this one feel? Online, they honestly look kinda cheap to me.

I am loving it. The quality is surprisingly very sturdy. Since the whole system only weighs 230 lbs I was worried about the overall quality too. I did a lot of research on systems before I decided on Decked, watched every video I could find. It came down to a couple things for the choice:

    1) Price, all these systems are expensive, but Decked seemed to be reasonable for the quality
    2) Drawer slide mechanism - I watched many videos of demonstrations and reviews of the drawers systems. I kept seeing the drawers catch when closing on the other systems. I could see that getting gummed up with dirt, sand, or ice.
    3) Mounting in the bed - wanted something sturdy but no drilling/permanent fixture. The Decked is a J-Hook then a threaded end bolts into the decked system. There are a lot of bolts on these things to put them together by the way. Some of the other systems just had a D-Ring screwed to the side and a tensioner screw to tighten it down. I figured if I am going to be bouncing around on back roads I don't want something that will break free.
    4) With the Decked they have a mounting track you can install and it gives some more mounting options for things like drawer slides and such.

Things I have noticed after installing it, but I can live with them:
    1) the Decked is taller than some of the others which reduces the capacity of the bed volume. There is still enough side wall to still haul things.
    2) Because the drawers roll so smooth, they are hard to keep open when your truck is on a hill.
    3) A Tonneau cover is kinda redundant

Awesome, thank you! So no drilling for install on our trucks, just J-hook to factory tie down?

Also, how water resistant have you found them to be? I understand they are not rated to be totally sealed, but will gear survive a decent rain storm in there?

I mostly use my truck for mountain biking and camping and such, so the drawers are attractive to me, with a rack or bedslide on top.

thanks for you feedback. I may order one up soon.

Don’t have a pic with the tepui on it but it works great. Takes up a lot of gear space but for short trips it’s great. Bikes are cable locked through the rack as well

Cool, thanks. How do you like the TrukVault system? They seem pretty pricey but much more industrial than the decked set up.

You do have to replace the tie down with the provided one. The angle of the OEM tie down looked like it wouldn't hold securely. As for water proof, I have not seen any water in mine and we have had some rain and snow here. I used the drawers to hide a couple Christmas presents until we could transport them in to the house unseen, one was a stuffed toy and it was dry. I doubt if you submerged the bed it would keep things dry, but if you are that point you may have other problems.

I use a cargo box that has latches on it to keep stuff dry, 4x2 in size. I want to go with the decked system as a better alternative. I looked at their website for tie downs, did not seem that great. Can you put some kind of tie downs in the four corners with out compromising the water proof seal?

Truckvault makes an incredible product and that certainly carries a pricetag. I bought both my bedslide and truckvault setups second hand (craigslist) and paid a fraction of the retail price. My truckvault is an older style, friction slide setup so it is not near as nice as the modern ball bearing setups. Mine is also not their extreme/weatherproof setup so I wouldn't keep it out in full weather or the boards used internally would definitely deteriorate. It would be just fine under a tonneau cover or camper shell but I wouldn't run my unit in an open bed year round.

I would say if you could find a used truckvault locally that would be the best way to go if you want a drawer setup. They build from MDO (medium density overlay) which is an awesome material ( I would research up on it if you havent yet). I have price checked local lumber yards for MDO and it would be insanely expensive to build your own drawer setup with MDO, ball bearing slides and linex the unit. Truckvault is expensive but i believe they make a superior product to anything else on the market.

Another brand you may be interested in looking into is Mobile Strong, i believe they build from HDPE.
