    Hi all,

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum but I have not been able to find pictures of everyone’s experiences with putting car seats in a double cab tundra. I just bought a 14 double cab, and while I love it and the bed space, I am struggling with a little bit of buyer’s remorse only for the fact that my wife and I decided to try to have a baby now and I’m concerned how car seats will fit in the tundra long term as my wife and I are both 5’11” and 6’0, respectively.

All of you double cab owners who have kids, could you please post pictures of how they fit, the brand you guys have/what configuration works best, and share how it works for you on trips around town or road trips! Thanks so much in advance!!

DC here and 2 car seats. Aside from making the under seat area useless, there are no issues with the kids. You WILL have to check shoes as they mark up the back of the front seats. Also, I HIGHLY recommend a wide step BOARD (I'm running GoRhino RB-10) to assist yourself and the kids in getting in/out/buckling them in.

I assume both of yours are forward facing? Have you tried one rear facing and one forward facing?

I'll post a pic later. My son is just turning 2 so he's still rear facing. Still plenty of room with the front seat pushed back against the car seat. I also was torn between the crewmax and the double cab. Ultimately the longer bed made more sense for me. You'll be fine unless you have triplets :101010:

Lord I hope we don’t :fingerscrossed:thanks for the info. Curious to see how your rear facing fits behind the passenger seat pushed up against it and how much room you have upfront!

Here's a few pics. The front seat is 2 clicks from being back fully. The other thing is as the kid gets bigger they sit more upright in the seat so I should have full range in the next month or so.
    PS, Excuse the mess.

I have a 15 month old so he is rear facing. I'll get a pic of the cradle I use in a bit

Wow that’s not bad at all. Everything I’ve ready is about how it requires the seat to be slammed against the dash but that doesn’t look like the case at all. Looks like you have plenty of room. What car seat model is yours?

I hauled around my niece last night in her car seat and put it in the middle. Room for days. I was also pretty curious about it so it was nice to know it worked no problem for when a little one comes down the road.

Don't let all those crew cab guys tell you there's no room in a double cab. Lol. When you go on a family trip you need more bed space for all the crap you need for a baby. Stroller, pack and play, highchair, toys, and everything for you and your wife.

That's for damn sure. The kids and wife make me wish I had an 8' bed. Normally the full size truck box lets me cover up stuff from possible rain while the space left in the bed is adequate for the rest. The DC bed is a lifesaver

That’s the truth! I never even thought about all the extra stuff that comes with bringing a baby around. Bed Space is already a premium for us with our 5 dogs and all our stuff. I imagine it’ll become even more of a tight fit when we have to take the baby’s stuff with us too.

I’ve always had crew cab trucks with a short bed (F150 and then Nissan Titan) and this is my first double cab and I am loving the bed space and really don’t want to have to give it up if I don’t have to

Remove the storage box and you can use the space under the seats again.

^^^^^^ This exactly! I’m 6’ and have a forward facing and a rear facing car seat in the back. They both fit perfectly fine. My wife will sometimes sit back there when she has to deal with the youngest and is perfectly fine, but admittedly she’s only 5’6”.

The bed has hauled a big jogging stroller, a cycle stroller, camping gear, playpen, trikes, air matresses, luggage, cooler, etc. We’ve driven cross country on summer trips fully loaded a bunch of stuff in the bed, too. I installed a Diamondback tonneau for added bed security and to keep everything dry when it rains.

You can still access the underseat storage, but you have to take out and reinstall the car seats. I’ve done it a few times already, so it’s not that difficult or time consuming for me anymore.

Get a Pikibu rear view mirror so you can see them better. You can also install one of those rear facing car seat mirrors to check on the rear facing kid. Mine’s gotten big enough, though, that he kicks it out of alignment on occasion. But these mirrors are great at letting you keep an eye on them in the back seat.

Don't forget that you can use one of those hitch racks. They're good for another 50 lbs or so. Strap your cooler into that and it frees up some bed space.

So what I did was put my daughter's forward face booster behind the driver's seat and my son's rear face in the middle. Still have easy access to the '40' side of the 60/40 under seat storage without removing seats.

Do not regret it. Once the monsters turn 13ish or older the CM is worth the extra interior space. Unless you need the extra bed length for an actual every day job (construction, builder, trade jobs), the CM is worth it if you intend on keeping the truck for several years as they grow (and add friends to the ride) and gear and whatever else. They just keep getting bigger, then one day the kid will try to ask to drive your truck and you will laugh at them.

Young buck! At 54, I have a 27 yr old, 7 yr old and 2 yr old. The oldest turned out awesome. She can’t believe what I let the others get away with now, though. They keep me young. Wouldn’t have it any other way!

I'll send you some pics later. I have a double cab with a huge rear-facing seat in the middle and a high-back booster behind my seat. Works great!
