I recommend only using Jace at Stevinson. @LOTSOFTOYS

I bet Toyota dealership service centers get least amount of work among all other brands. So they are hungry for work and try to upsell you. Must suck to be a mechanic for a manufacturer that has the least amount of issues.

But realistically I’m sure it’s more along the lines of what @OBXTundra said.

I would add Groove to that list. Nothing but terrible experiences there until I raised holy hell and got the master tech. It was full blown meltdown you should have seen it!

Well, since I have about 45 min of ass time...

2002- I took in my wife’s 2000 Tacoma for a warranty item. Quick and easy. I asked if we needed anything else. The truck was getting close to 30k miles. We had just got done doing the diffs, xcase, transmission, oil change was due and had it scheduled for the next week.
So next week comes and my wife takes her truck into the “dealership” (she purchased 12 oil at purchase for a good deal). She comes home that evening with a list of recommended maintenance items that needed to be done. 800.00+ worth of stuff we just did. I blew it off at first, but then started thinking, why the fuck didn’t I get that same list a week earlier? Only thing I can think of is I don’t have a pair of tits. This never sat well with me, but blew it off. At least they gave us the info...right?

2008- Tacoma needed a timing belt, drive belts, spark plugs, brakes and the complete line oil changed again (we do it every 30k). I performed the brake change (all new parts), flushed the reservoir, did all the Lube Oil, spark plugs and transmission myself like normal. Well Toyota had a deal going on for timing belts. Hells yeah. So I had them just change the water pump and drive belts before they even asked. This was the first time in my life that I ever had a dealership perform major maintenance on any vehicle. They finished up pretty quick and I was just shit tickled pink. This was pretty nice. They showed me the nice sticker on the timing cover, and everything was golden.

About 4 months later we had an O2 sensor crap out. I was more busy than a three peckerd billy goat at work, but I got the O2 sensor changed out but the CEL didn’t clear. So I said screw it, just take it into Toyota and have them fix it since the first and only experience was great.

So my wife went in and got the code cleared. Sure as stink on shit, the lead mechanic recommended that she get her drive belts, timing chain, brakes replaced...and needed to be now.

For the most part, I’m a funny guy, like to laugh and joke around. You try and steal from me, especially through my queen, I become a whole different person.

Now let’s rewind a bit. Four months prior we just did all this service, and a good portion of it was done by the dealership.

I called the service manager the next day and asked him about the recommended service. We chatted a bit and he said it needed to be done. So I requested a meeting with the mechanic and himself the next day. He agreed.

The next day I had my guns loaded. I met with him and the mechanic in his office and showed him the paperwork my wife got a few days prior. Then I showed them the paperwork and my own receipts from 4 months earlier. The looks one both I their faces was priceless, the “oh we fucked up with this guy” look.
They wanted to put the truck on a rack and I didn’t let them. We could see everything from the parking lot. We went outside and and I pointed to the nice little sticker that their shop put on 4 months earlier. Then I proceeded to request my drive belts that they replaced 4 months earlier to be changed under the 12 month warranty. Well of flippen course they didn’t want to do that, they looked perfect. Hell, the 8 year old ones that were removed still looked good.
We then looked at the front brakes. There was no snowball fight chance in hell they were worn down to 1mm. Yep, you guessed it. They looked great. Reservoir looked clear and had fresh fluid. At this point, they had been caught and knew it.

I started asking why they tried screwing my wife over. The tech didn’t have a lot to say other than sorry. Sorry doesn’t cut it.

I was very loud and customers were just staring at the ass chewing I was giving them. Most were women and I kept asking if that’s how they treat women at this dealership?

The last thing the service manager said was “I would sure like another chance to earn your business.”

I replied “not a f’n chance in hell, and this is going up to regional reps.”

...and that’s exactly what I did. That got me a few phone calls to say the least.

My Tundra was interesting at this dealership as well with the front diff replacement.

I don’t have time to even get into what I went through with Dodge.

Oh, and until I die or no longer have a joined bank account, my wife is not allowed to take a vehicle into a service center. Hell, even if she wanted a divorce tomorrow, I would still service her vehicles for free.

We took my wife's old Hyundai in and they told her she needed to have new filters, both engine and in cabin. Funny thing is, I had replaced both before driving over for the oil change. Their response? "Sorry ma'am, in the future we'll make sure we don't recommend things that don't need to be done."
