Canadian Prices 2022 Tundra

The Ford is more feature rich and is a nicer truck on paper. I had a terrible experience with mine and am glad to be back in a Toyota. So for me there was a bit of an 'anything is better than my old Ford' mentality, but I'm also a Toyota guy at heart and this new Tundra is a great truck. Really happy with it so far.

Holds 204kg, sufficient for any 12ft or 14ft aluminum. A boat loader would be ideal but they are pricy...was quoted 2.5k-3k from one company in BC.

 

My post was referring to the roof only - not enough length. You are using the whole truck/bed.
Seems like a big outlay of cash for such a small item - I would just stuff it in the bed with a flag or through the back window.

 

Well, I assume you did not read my initial post carefully. The entire reason to put it on the roof rack of sorts is because I tow a travel trailer....hope it makes more sense now ;-)

Sounds like you are going to be loaded up good. remember the rack is going to take 60lbs from your payload number.

I have also had terrible experiences with Ford, both reliability wise and customer service. Will never buy a Ford vehicle again.

 

My first new vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler. I know it’s a jerk but After skews of issues and a garbage dealership I would never buy another Chrysler/gm producton my own dime. In fact I’d avoid the big three. They’re not all terrible vehicles, at this point is just opt to never buy one. Unless Toyota goes south I’m pretty sold on their products.

ny father and brothers all has the 22re’s. They all had over 300k in them when they moved on. My previous employer had a 14 tundra. I think he let it go with over 400k on it.

I’m a bit of a Toyota loyalist after my first tundra. I’ve driven echo’s, Yaris, Camry’s and rav4’s. They’re not the fanciest vehicles (the older ones) but they just worked.

No idea. Outside of the truck, this is going to be a nightmare for businesses already struggling. The article also pointed out that the agricultural industry is looking for fertilizer and supply deliveries so that could further hurt fragile industries. Just one hit after another. It just feels like the “perfect storm” is brewing

 

I'd happily cross the picket lines to get the trains moving again if I knew how to run an engine. Fuck 'em. Fuck unions too (saying this as an unwilling union member...). I'm all for protesting (honk! honk!), but not in a way that blocks one of only two of a kind transport options for a nation. Block a border crossing? Ok, fine. There's others to cross at. Block a highway? Fine, transport can go around. It's more expensive and a pain in the ass but doable. Protestors get their point across, and the nation's economy isn't really put in serious jeopardy.

Canuckistan only has two rail operators though and a finite amount of rail routes. This country is in a rapid economic decline already, and without the rail that's going to accelerate even more. Shipping companies should be pivoting now. Start cancelling loads with CP and switch it to CN. Everything that can get loaded on trucks, should be.

 

I found that CP services the Ontario Toyota plants - found some older news stories about that. But not sure if it will impact Tundra deliveries coming up from Texas.

i know CN has a larger network, especially in the States, so here’s hoping that they use CN for shipping up from Texas

Deposit made December 15th. Was told last week mid July.

My dealer had an allocated unit that hadnt been sold yet- exact model & trim i wanted just different colour. Deposit paid in mid Jan, and last update, delivery expected early/mid April. I was told if I "custom ordered" the wait would be longer

 

I put my deposit down in early February for a truck that the dealer had in their allocation which matched exactly what I wanted. At that time the truck was supposed to arrive at the end of May or first week of June. I haven't heard any updates, but I doubt the truck has even been built. I'll probably call at the beginning of May to find out if it's still on track.

I'm not in a huge hurry. I don't mind having more time to save up for a bigger downpayment as well as have the money to put proper tires and a Diamondback tonneau on right away.

 

So I am trying to place an order for my new truck (to replace my stolen 2020 TRD Sport) and the website seems messed up in some areas and I am trying to get a straight answer from the dealer. According to the website the entire SR/SR5 Crewmax line up including the TRD Sport and TRD Offroad get the detuned 348hp engine and the smaller 22 gallon gas tank. Unless you get the long bed, then the 389hp and 32 gal tank are standard. I thought that as soon as you opt for the SR5 in all configurations you get the normal 389hp engine and the 32 gal tank? WTF Toyota Canada! Either fix your website or fix you options! And don't get me started on the tow mirror idiocy!

Anyone in Canada get a TRD Sport yet? Can you confirm what it has?

SR gets the detuned engine and small tank. SR5 and above get the 389hp and 32gal tank. I confirmed this when I put the deposit down for my SR5 TRD Off Road.

 

Thanks. Dealer just confirmed the same. They sent me their summary sheet of all the trims and contents. Toyota just can't seem to get any of these things right with the launch of this truck.

Now which to choose.....TRD Sport or Limited? Sport looks better IMHO but the Limited has a few nice goodies in the package. Just not sure they are worth the ~$7K upsell.

 

Limited seems to be the sweet spot in terms of features for the price.

For me, I wanted the softex because I have 2 little kids and a dog (the softex feels great by the way). Also heated wheel, large screen, wireless charging are things I wanted. Not sure if the SR5 has power folding mirrors, but I park downtown a lot and they come in handy on my Limited.

Appearance wise, I think they all look good. I prefer the blacked out look, too. But at the end of the day I can't see the outside of the truck when I'm driving it, so is it really that big of a deal if there is different trim or wheels?

 

The only things in the Limited that I really want are the upgraded seats (for similar reasons to @Baldwin) and the EC rear view mirror w/ HomeLink. However, I can get some Katzkin covers for ~$1k ish and do some other kind of mirror (older, used or aftermarket) for a couple hundred bucks. So that still leave $6k ish to justify. Bigger screen would be nice but AFAIK the contents and function are the same just larger so I am not sure how much I care about that. Mirrors I figure I will end up replacing with tow mirrors down the road when aftermarket catches up so there again I don't need all those bells and whistles. Even the wireless charging a few members have posted pretty elegant solutions that cost only $20. The panoroof would be nice but if it is the only differentiating factor the extra $6k it isn't worth it I think.

 

Sounds like you have your answer then I think I'd still be pretty happy with a SR5 TRD OR truck instead of a limited. Saw one in the showroom and it looked like.

 

You pay more for the LTD, but you'll sell it for more when the time comes.

 

Just circling back on the Thread Title [and a bit of details]:

• Getting MSRP pricing from Dealership around $65,500 - $66,000 CDN
  • Freight & PDI $1,900 - $2,100 []
• BFG 285/65R18 Installed - $1,800+tax
  • Actually now leaning Grapplers [Hybrids]; have duratracs on my Lariat and they have been great

Fortunately the rail strike was short lived and should not see any disruptions on transport to respected dealership up here north of the 49th.

Got to finally drive one of the Tundras on the weekend [Platinum CM]; Yup, no complaints; my initial thoughts before mine is supposed to show up in April:

• Felt like a ton of room inside while driving;
• Wish the back seat floor was flat and fully accessible like my F150 [great for my Lab], yet I am sure I will get used to it;
• The fully digital display was nice on the Platinum, wish the Limited had that !;
• The Limited front grill looks better than the Platinum IMO [cheese grader look];
• Moon roof and drop down windy combo is super deadly, practically feels like a convertible;
• Quite a bit of snap with the TTV6, bit more giddy-up it feels like than my 3.5Ecoboost;
• Tried the wireless charge with my Iphone 12 in my Mous case: seamed to connect then disconnect from the charge [amber LED next to it flashing on and off ] while driving

Looking forward to its arrival...

 

This article from Edmonton with info obtained from Blacklocks Reporter, suggests the gas guzzler tax that pickups are exempt from won't be around for much longer. Some interesting scenarios presented. fyi.

Sucks for any of us that drive trucks, but the unless I'm mistaken, when the 'gas guzzling' taxes were first introduced in passenger cars the end result was that it simply drove more consumers into vans, SUV's, CUV's and pickups. Perhaps it should've been applied to every passenger vehicle from the beginning, but I suspect that heavy lobbying from the automotive industry significantly impacted the final tax rules.
