Canadian Prices 2022 Tundra

I eventually ordered the 2022 SR5 Crewmax TRD Offroad 5.5ft box and ETA at the dealership right now is middle of May. I did not even have to put down a deposit, probably because they are not afraid to sell it should the deal go south. I figured that whether they have my deposit or not if they were dishonest they could make up whatever excuse and sell it to someone they can squeeze a bigger profit from.

 

Are you trading something in? If so, you're most likely going to get the best trade in value of your life. So at least there's that...

Not a chance. The buggers wouldn't even throw in the sub-$300 bed mat even after I told them I was buying the 84mo/200,000km warranty. I called a couple dealers in Alberta and they were all the same.

 

Agree, my dealer offered me almost 1000 dollars more (Canadian) for my trade in compared to the price I paid 2 years ago for my then brand new 4runner. There was virtually zero going back and forth which tells me that I might have gotten away with even more had I aimed for a higher value.

 

This was my experience too. My trade in was a bit stingier than I would have liked but it is a lease that they're giving me like 6k for effectively so I can't complain

 

I didn't even have them make an offer on my '05. My dad is buying it for $15K and when he's done with it, I get to buy it back.

 

That's fair. For me to sell it I need to buy out the lease and pay the tax on that and by trading it in they reduce the sale price of new truck by the trade in value so I end up paying less taxes on the new truck. Feels not good up front but the math works out ok. I'm sure you avoid all the tax crap keeping it in the family.

 

The only tax I need to deal with is the 5% sales tax on the new truck. The $15K from the sale plus our savings will have me putting around 50% down on the truck.

 

So you're getting $15K for a 2005 Tundra?

 

Yep. Only 200,000kms on it, zero rust, a ton of work put into it. I've had private sale offers of $18K for it in this market. Dad offered $15K with a promise to maintain it and sell it back to me eventually. Works for me.

 

Yeah, I figured there wouldn't really be any deals out there. I'll trade my 2013 Ram Sport with 150k on it. Not sure what I'll get, but hope it's a decent deal.

 

I managed to my white SR5 TRD off road crew max long box for 250$ under msrp and had them remove the charge for the undercoating. I also negotiated a 500$ credit for the parts department. My particular truck was came with locking lug nuts, carpet and all weather floor mats, trailer hitch and ball, and bed rail cleats. Not sure if those come with all Canadian model trucks but I was happy with the deal overall. Like you said, just had to feel like I got some sort of a deal, even with it being a sellers market. The guys at my dealership were great, nothing but compliments. If anyone needs a good dealership, I’ve got one to recommend.

 

I know all 2.5 gens in Canada came with those things. Not sure if they carried that over for 2022.

 

Mine came with the hitch, but I couldn't find the ball. Also no carpet mats, unless they're under the rubber ones, but I dont care anyway. I'll never use carpet mats.

 

Was this warranty through Toyota and do mind letting us know what it cost you?

 

It's Toyota ECP Platinum warranty. Cost is $4700 which seems high until you have a look at parts costs and shop rates on new vehicles these days.

Well unlike the previous gen which was (for me) a 10 year purchase intent with no intention for adding additional warranty.
The 2022 is now a warranty purchase in my mind. If you are planing on keeping past 3 years its MSRP + $5000.

 

I think that's pretty much the case for me with every new vehicle from now on. If I had bought a '21 Tundra, I would not have bought the warranty. There's just too much tech and advanced systems that can get expensive to repair even a minor issue on new vehicles. Another big thing is that The Woman will be using the truck with my newborn daughter while I'm out of town for work. I don't want her to have to worry about anything. Something happens, all she needs to do is get the truck to Toyota and they'll take care of it. I plan to keep the truck for at least 10 years, so the warranty will cover most of our ownership period giving us plenty of time to decide if they truck is as reliable as we trust Toyota to be and we keep the truck or if we need to shop around again for our next one.

 

Well that raises other problems during winter - not the intent of this thread. If its a family vehicle it has to have 4auto 4wd.
My wife would not know how to switch to 4wd. She can't remember to turn her data on for Android Auto let alone know when to select 4wd.
Just me - my situation.
Unless you just tell them to just leave it in 4wd all the time. Many have done this with no signs of problems to the driveline.
Maybe problems showed up later.
Personally hoping in 6 months for the 2023 update Toyota improves on the underseat storage (like option to fold flat ) and add full time 4wd option.
+ a few other things if they listen to their clients.

 

I had auto-4wd in my 2011 Sierra. It was ok and a nice system. I've never really missed it. Definitely a personal situation though. The Woman is very confident driving full size trucks in the snow and understands the 4wd system well, taking it in an out of 4wd as required. She's already been doing reading on the multi-terrain select system, normal/sport/eco mode and figuring out what the locking diff does (even though she'll never need it). When we test drove the '22 Tundra, I mentioned the lack of the auto-4wd feature. Her response was "Whatever. Don't really need it.".

 

Beautiful canoe by the way. Is that a Swift Prospector 17’? We finally got our hands on a used Swift Keewaydin 16’ last summer.

 

Good eye! It is, Kevlar so super light. We love it, used to have a 16 ft prospector & upgraded to do some paddle in camping. It solos like a dream too. Swift makes good boats, the Keewatin is a great boat too!

 

Thanks. Been a Swift fan for years, however, our previous canoe was a Nova Craft Bob Special 16’ Superlight. Can’t wait to take our Keewaydin out on our annual backcountry canoe trip this summer! Sure wish there was an OEM roof rack for the new Tundra, like the one we have on our 2012 Tacoma. Safe paddling!

 

Anyone heard anything from their dealers about hybrid orders/pricing/timing/anything?

I know the press release in early Feb came out, and a few dealers have their own build sites with pricing, but Toyota Canada site barely even acknowledges a hybrid model. I'm asking here first to spare another call with my dealer that they don't have any updates or anything new to tell me.

 

I got what I paid for on my 2021 CM TRD Off Road from my dealer (less the cost of my running boards and linex)

new one got msrp, and they threw in the 5 year 120k platinum warranty, the tri fold tonneau and TRD skid plate.

so for me. The deal I know came with my trade in. They hungry for stock. Probably could have got more but had already worked my side steps and 3m into the deal lol!

 

LiMITED has been built and is in Transit (as per dealership). No update other than that they gave me. Mentioned end of April and that production was behind about 3 weeks (wastegate , other parts , I wonder).

When it’s in transit, any idea how long to get to Canada then to Dealership?

 

I've been quoted 4 weeks for transit to Canada. It's direct delivery to dealership for us.

 

Not sure how long it takes but let us know what your impressions are VS the F150. I love my Limited and came from a 2016 F150 Platinum 5.0.

 

Will do. The Ford dealership is trying to swing some magic to keep me in a Ford but they have got a lot of work to do before that happens. I have had no complaints with my Lariat but I have waited quite some time for the redesign on the Tundra and I hope its been worth the wait. Glad to hear you are loving the change. I am sure there are a few things you miss on the F150 yet the pros on the Tundra Limited probably outweigh those few things.
