Thanks, I have seen those and have watched a video on installing them. I just wasn't sure about playing around air bags. I could do it but would it cause problems possibly? Not sure

Canadian build shows the grab handle on the LTD. There's a few things not listed, IE bed lights with the 400W outlet in the bed. Not sure if those are included.

Its intimidating because when you remove the pillar cover the air bag is staring at you. Sure. But all you are doing is removing the cover and placing the new cover in place which has the the holes to accept the grab handle and its bolts. When you remove the cover you can see the anchors for the handle bolts there, when Toyota cheaped out by removing the grab handle. You could get the dealer to do it.

If Canadian Tundras do indeed not have the grab, I am sure someone will post a video on how to install one on this all new generation model.

this is what the website says for all of them.

Driver & Passenger Side B-Pillar Assist Grip, Passenger Side A-Pillar Assist Grip

Has to be wrong because the pictures show the drivers handle for even the very base model.
It must be a carryover text from previous gen.

Sure hope so. I'm getting more and more glad I didn't wait for this generation to buy a truck.

Canadian order guide has 400W bed outlet on Limited and above, no mention of bed lights. On US models, bed lights and 400W outlet are grouped as one single feature, we should probably have it.

Anyone getting the factory hard tonneau cover? Or should I go for aftermarket?

I would think aftermarket would be the same quality or better for a lower price.

    It’s $1794 for a factory 5.5 bed cover.

That sounds high to me. You're almost into canopy money there. I think you can buy a tonneau cover from GM for between $1000 and $1500 so I would think the aftermarket has to be less.

Keep an eye on their Outlet. If you're willing to deal with minor imperfections, you can save a bundle.

    https://diamondbackcovers.com/collections/diamondback-outlet/cover+diamondback-hd+toyota-tundra

The way I look at it is this way. A hard top tonneau is going to run $1000 - $1500 depending on what you get but limits your load hauling to under the cover. A cap will be $2000+ but will be a pain to remove if you need to do truck stuff. Why not spend around $2000 and have the security of a tonneau but with the ability to park a quad on top, that has racks available for install, and be easy to remove if needed? The bonus is that they look bad ass.

Buy once, cry once. You're spending $60K or more on a new truck. What's another $2000 - $2500 for a secure, dry, durable and versatile cover? Especially once you consider the cost spread out over the 10 years or more you'll keep the truck?

If I'd thought a tonneau would work for me, I probably would have gone for a hard tri-fold or one of those fancy rolling ones. The canopy with the removable front window is working for me so far.

Looks like its a Bakflip. My Ford factory bed cover is a Bakflip with a Ford sticker on it. The Toyota looks very very similar.

Same with the bed extender. Looks like an Amp.

The power fold out side steps are also Amp Research on the F150s. Could be the same on Toyotas and other brands too.

I have a Truxedo soft tonneau and the Thule TracRac system for my boat racks. I almost went with a cap but my set up cost half as much. I hauled dirt and mulch this last summer and a cap would have made that a pain or impossible. I also really like the ability to enjoy the back window rolled down in summer which a cap would negate. I do miss being able to use my truck bed for sleeping in on quick overnight fishing and hunting trips though.

I don't think there's one perfect system for everyone.

Yeah, we were talking about bringing in some gravel to improve the road at our lake lot and I would have had to rent a dump trailer probably. Need something hard sided for camping in the mountains, though.

I gotta say that I'll be keeping a close eye on the real world mileage for these non-hybrid models plus the upcoming EPA rating for the hybrid. In the end a 2.5 gen regular cab with the large fuel tank may better suit my needs.

Pretty sure the TRD Offroad package deletes the retractable front air dam. Would contribute to a dip in mileage, especially on the highway

That's what the trim comparison on the website says. I'm hard pressed to believe that gives you much more than 1 mpg, though.

Oh nice. Glad to hear it. That air dam just seemed like a horrible idea on a truck being taken off road. I really don't care about the .5 - 1 mpg it might save on a road trip.

So, to get the 122 litre gas tank and the 389hp engine you need either the SR5 DC 8' box or the SR5 CM 6.5' box? None of the SR's or the SR5 CM 5.5' box include either?

The dealer told me that until these trucks show up on his lot with the listed options, he would not confirm what is on the website right now.
So I think patience is needed for another couple of weeks. If something doesn't make sense like gas tank capacity, I will assume the website is wrong until confirmed otherwise.
