I was gonna buy a snow blower this year but can't afford it with work being slow. Even used ones are withing a few hundred bucks of new prices here.

My x-neighbour just asked if I want to buy his 24” deer for $800 , I just paid $1600 for a brand new blade for the tundra, that makes way more sense to this guy haha.

A blade definitely makes more sense for an acreage. My friend was trying to sell me his snowblower last year for $1000. Tracked, 2 stage, heated grips, power adjustable nozzle, the works. $3000+ unit brand new. I should have snagged it. Lol

Heated grips? That is de lux.
I scored a craftsman 2stroke a few years ago for free. it needed a hows she going and the belt was a pita to find but its better the shoveling. Nothing beats the smell of 2stroke lingering on a snowy day!

Any first hand suggestions for new tires for me to use year round, city, a few times a year to tow and give an agressive look.l and at least 4 months of winter driving

Looking at new rims that will be 18x9.5.

    Was considering the following:
    • Duratec Wrangler Heavy Load E
    • BFGoodrich T/A K02

Both are going to run about $1800 all in and will be used year round.

I use the leftover dirt bike fuel so it smells extra fresh. Castor 927 FTW.

I've got Duratracs on my work truck and I'd just say they're meh - don't do anything great but don't have any huge issues with them. To me the stock Michelin's on the Tundra have much better on road performance than the Duratracs. And from the sounds of it the new K02's are not as good as the old K02's. Me personally I'm waiting for the new Toyo AT3's, but if I had to get new ones now it would be between Toyo RT's, Cooper AT3 XLT, and Falken Wildpeaks.

Mmmmm I miss rocket fuel, I used to run VP 113 in my ‘89 Honda Trx 350r. Motor was bored and stroked by Arlan Lehman, LED racing engines in Idaho. Damn that thing would rip my arms off in 6th gear wheeling in peak powerband with a 4” extended swing-arm!

Sold it to pay for house renovation material for our first flip house-bitter sweet haha.

I should buy a can of VP to huff once in a while for old time sake;)

This stuff always reminds me that half the drivers here are psychos and the other half are babies.

Had to drive home at 50 the whole way in the 70 zone yesterday because of all the wussies in front of me. Went over one bridge where a semi was stuck going one way and a Jeep had rolled going the other way.

My brother just got himself Toyo Open Country AT2s so will keep an eye on how those work for him. He doesn't tow and drives on gravel a fair bit, though.

He says he hates KO2s and that Duratracs are too hard if you do lots of stop and go.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Cooper from forum members. It was on my short list, so I may have to find a retailer here in town.

They appear to have the Snowflake rating too

Toyos are the best tire I’ve owned. The ATIIs took almost no weight to balance, and stayed balanced and smooth for the life of the tire. Tough and wore like iron. Downside is that hard compound gets sketchy on ice after a year or twos wear.

    BFGs- never again.

Michelin- decent, but not suited to my uses.

Like belanger, I wanted to wait for the Toyo ATIII, but they are supposedly quite a ways out from Canadian availability. I couldn’t wait any longer, so went with a old faithful- Duratracs. I’ve had a few sets on other trucks and like them for my uses. IMO, Duratracs are on the more aggressive end of the AT scale, and are fantastic on backroads, rough trails and off-road. Road noise is noticeable, so probably not the ideal tire for a truck that’s mainly a commuter, or for someone sensitive to road noise. They are a softer compound than some, so wear a little faster. They are great in snow, but like most ATs get less and less confidence inspiring on ice as they wear. Still, better than most ATs, IME. I had this set studded and will use them as my winters.

I’ll be tire shopping in the spring and it will be between another set of Duratracs or the Toyo ATIII.

Thanks for the info! Very helpful.

I'm probably over thinking and over researching them and need to order soon before my brain explodes

What I am confident in, ANYTHIING will be better in the snow and look more agressive than my stock BFG Dueler H/T 648ii.

We used to just go to Costco and slap on whatever they told us on our Sienna.

But then again, I was never on a Sienna forum....;)

Do you have to be insured with AMA for that?

No, you don't need to be insured by them to use the auto-renew. I am a member (for towing), but I don't think you even need to be one either.

Mine expire in August. Got the new ones from AMA auto renew in June or July and my wife hid them somewhere "safe". Spent half the morning on September 1st taking the house apart to find them.
