I grew up fishing that area. If you're a fisherman, it's basically heaven. Hundreds of lakes, may which don't see much pressure and have lots of good sized fish. The Thompson River has some great fishing for rainbows in the summer. The dry fly action can be crazy. I miss the fishing in BC most of all. I love Alberta, but let's be honest...the fishing sucks here.

Sturgeon are a blast. The ones in the Fraser get huge. A 5 - 6 footer is normal and you'll catch a few of those most days. 8 footers are semi-common. 10+ footers happen regularly.

    Everyday:

    Very common:

Probably 1 this size is pulled out every week by guides:

I work with two brothers who both drive Dodges. If I recall correctly, the younger brother drives a 2006 and the older brother a 2007. The 2007 is rusting along the sides of the bed worse than the 2006 because of the extra foam they added that year for noise dampening or whatever reason.

You mean the foam they added so it rots faster so they need to sell you a new one faster haha

Anyone else getting that pit of the stomach feeling with the CAD and ordering out of the USA? Shipping is feels ridiculously overpriced from 90% of places too.

My shopping habits have changed - not only do I want to support more local right now, it's either the same cost or slightly less to not buy direct.

For example, I ordered a Prinsu Toprac from Krave in Calgary. Yes, I will have to wait a bit to get it because they order once a month, but it was less cost than ordering directly from Prinsu/CBI and I can give a local business piece of the pie.

With our peso in the toilet, everything is going to jump up in price and take away the advantage of buying Stateside. It used to be cheaper to buy out of the US even after exchange and shipping, which was often really high. These days I try to buy local, or at least from Western Canada when possible in order to support our business here.

From what I recall, the last time it was cheaper to buy stuff from the U.S. was when the dollars were on par with each other and even then only for expensive things that are heavily taxed or otherwise overpriced here. A friend of mine got himself a Cadillac STS-V in the U.S. last time our dollar was up because even with the taxes and fees to bring it across the border, he came out ahead. But even for something like a Tundra, the difference wouldn't be worth it.

My grandpa did similar with his Chevy 1 ton. I think he saved $15K over the best deal he could find in Canada. I ended up buying a lot of fishing gear and shooting equipment like pouches, handgrips etc from the US even when we were still weaker than their dollar. I think we were around 80 - 90 cents. Prices in Canada were on average 25% higher than in the US. Most Canadian retailers were wanting alot of money to ship in Canada and I could get free shipping within the US so I would ship it to a package receiving depot in Sumas, Washington. For some reason, even though I would declare everything I rarely ever had to pay duty or taxes either, so that's a 5% - 12% savings right there.

Oh, here's one. 2 years ago I bought the TRD SEMA wheels for my truck. Local Toyota dealership wanted almost $400 per wheel + tax. I ordered them from a Toyota dealership in California for somewhere around $250 CAD per wheel, free shipping to Sumas, WA. My dad went and picked them up, paid $100 in duty and he brought them to me next time he came up for a visit. I can't remember what our dollar was at back then but it wasn't on par and we're talking $400+ in savings.

Windshield wipers for the wife's Corolla were way cheaper from Sparks Parts in California than anywhere else but I got nailed with way more duty than I should have. I think I'll just stick to ordering local when I can.

I have no idea how they calculate the duty owed. It really seems like it's up to the whim of the CBSA officer. I've declared stuff where I've calculated owing over $100 in duty and not been charged a penny. Then I've declared stuff that should have been waved through but been charged almost the same value as the item.

Silly Civic. It's just going to leave you sad on the side of the highway like every other Ford has done to the ones who love them.

Then the Civic will have to raise a Ridgeline all by itself and thus continuing the cycle of broken families. :(

Nope. Pulled them off google. I used to manage a fishing and hunting store and many of my clients were guides. I'd see pics like this every day. Search "Fraser River sturgeon". The Fraser River is a perfect environment for these fish. They feed on the decaying salmon carcasses, eulachon smelts and have abundant other food. The Fraser is a huge river and gets very deep in places, I've sounded a couple holes at 50 feet and have heard of some even deeper.

First, I do not condone speeding. I’m the guy who is in the right lane with the cruise locked at the limit.

But... That looks like a Mercedes C63 AMG. Let’s even assume it’s the S model. Doesn’t that have a top speed of 180
Mph? Unless daddy removed the top speed limiter, which makes little sense on that car, how can it magically do 192 mph?

All German cars do, but many can be removed with the right software. But gearing is still a limitation once you hit those speeds. But on further investigation, there are engine tunes that will let it break 200 mph as there is more than enough left for gearing (watch the video)
