Feb 10...now's the time we start complaining about winter and how we're done with it right?

Not me. I like getting out on the sled too much to want it to end anytime soon.

I'm not really set up for wheeling and haven't found anyone around here I'd want to go with. :(

Amen. I'm ready to break out the fly rods and harass some trout.

No sled here. Maybe someday. I've seen pics of the sledding in BC. Absolutely beautiful.

Damn hey. I haven’t found a wheelin bro either. I just go out by myself and don’t get too harry. I’ve only had to call for help once so far-touch wood. Also, you don’t really have to be set up. Just go within your trucks limits. Head to princess auto and buy a cheap set of tire chains and you’ll be able to anywhere haha

I have chains, a come-a-long, some tow straps etc. Not a fan of using any of them. LOL. Theres not much for good exploring around here like you have. Too much rig traffic. I've been nearly run off the road countless times despite having a road radio. Rig pigs just drive like assholes so I avoid the patch roads. Hell, I avoid Hwy 40 like the plague. LOL

Just over the line in BC towards Tumbler Ridge there's some great backroads. Unmaintained for the winter for the most part though, so driving on them isn't smart unless you really want to practice your recovery.

Fair enough fair enough. We’ll this summer I’m wanting to plan an Alberta Tundra meet up somewhere cool. Then we can all have a wheeling buddy for a weekend.

Yeah, they're pretty bad. When I lived in BC, I would drive some active logging roads to get to lakes in the Kamloops area. Nothing like coming around a corner and getting face to face with a loaded log truck doing 80km/h the other way. Log haulers don't seem to even bother with calling their markers. At least rig pigs use their radios!

Wow crazy! Some of the roads calling in roads I drive in by Drayton Valley, if you don’t call out your marker it’s a 500$ ticket. And the cops drive unmarked half tone pickups. So you never know witch one is a cop.

That's good to see. I was doing a job north of Ft. Nelson and the road was actually privately owned by the oil company. They had their own rent-a-cops who had the authority to kick you off the road if you didn't call or drove like an idiot. I was up there for 2 weeks and heard of 4 guys getting the boot. If they came back on the road, the real cops were called and they were served with trespassing charges.

We do the same thing on our roads in our fields. One of them is hwy 40 south along with the back roads south of the city there. That area is crazy af. Will help once they twin the highway to the bridge

Damnit! Now I want spring weather, AND I want winter to stay. :angrygirl:

My sled is older (‘02) but I have fun. We don’t get into any of the real crazy mountain riding, mostly trail riding on unplowed logging roads and play in cutblocks, and on the frozen lakes. It ain’t a cheap hobby, :spending: but it can be somewhat reasonable, and it sure makes me enjoy winter more.

LOL. Just think of those big hungry rainbows crusing the shallows under the ice, just waiting for spring when they can grab your chironomid pattern and make a break for the other end of the lake then tail walk across the surface. I can hear the fly reel screaming already...

I've told The Woman that when we buy a house I'll probably pick up a cheaper used sled for us. It'd make ice fishing more pleasant as we'd be able to actually move around the lake easily instead of trudging on foot dragging our gear behind us.
