Not much you can do as a preventative measure other than clearing out that area when you let your truck sit outdoors to prevent freeze up. I have not encountered this problem yet because I keep my truck inside and my garage is warm enough to melt accumulated ice overnight.

I try to use my snow brush like a trowel to clear as much snow out of there as possible.

Milwaukee or your preferred brand of blower?
Not convenient and not for every kind of snow/ice, but here in Alberta people just loooove clearing snow with leaf blowers.

My Milwaukee blower is quieter than my snowblower, my neighbor's diesel truck, the other neighbor's motorcycle or the one shitbox Chevy with no exhaust that leaves the neighborhood every morning at 0600 (fuck that guy).

I am not so sure it's a US versus Canadian thing. I have some bad dealings with a dealership just 8 hours from me while another three dealerships going in the opposite direction just 6 hours and 7 hours from me have been great. Bought a few Toyota's from those latter dealerships over the years (two of them were cross Provincial border purchases). My 2023 Tundra is the first time I actually purchased from my local Toyota dealership as in the past they did not what to wheel and deal. I believe this time it was different for two reasons. One their Sales Manager is a personal friend of mine (I used to work with him) and two they knew I bought from out of town in the past so I am sure they wanted my business this time.

$1.049/L in Winnipeg the other day when I put in 120L. It was $0.999/L at Domo.

I think it was about $1.149/L when I drove by a station this morning.

We dropped the gas tax for a year, political move.

Tsuu T’ina costco is always 20 cent cheaper then Calgary fuel.
Co op gives 6cents/liter back so I just go there as costco is too far and it gives me anxiety going there.

    Function before sparkle.
It’s 108.9 at Buffalo Run today. Best time to go is 9 pm as the gas station stays open later than the warehouse.

I think the carbon tax on fuel kicks back in here on April 1st. We're down around $1.10/litre right now.

Gas is cheapest in Vancouver :) That's why I drive an EV!

I went to Starbucks and asked for a double double! I got 2 shots of espresso in 2 cups?

That sucks! He was probably waiting a long time to get it too! Now back to the starting line! At least there is more inventory now so the wait should be a lot less.

    That's sucks big time.

As a side note my insurance company requires that I put a secondary security device on my 2020 Highlander (steering wheel Club) as they one of the highest rates of vehicle theft in Canada. If you don't they charge a higher premium. I can see insurance companies making this mandatory no matter make and model in the future. I know it's only going to slow those thieves down a bit anyways.

We are so busy trying to protect our cats from getting stolen by adding covers. All the thieves need to do is take the entire truck!

We had the same dilemma with our trailer not so much from our parking spot but more when it is a campsite and we go out for the day.

I did a few things like: 1) A big fancy hitch lock from Proven; 2) removed the hitch chains; 3) added a custom wheel club; 4) put an apple airtag in it. All these will only slow them down but hopefully they will make some noise trying to get these do dads off!

This makes me think about adding noisy car alarm to my truck but I really hate them going off all the time. :(

Most are like that. I am with CAA including house insurance. They "technically " did not offer a discount on my Highlander but I would have to pay extra if I didn't put the Club on. I am OK with that. CAA has been great and their premiums are very competitive.

Totally agree. They even beat my group insurance plan I had with my Professional Engineering association who I had been with for over 20 years. I wish I would have known sooner, could have saved thousands.

Unfortunately, Masterlock stopped selling their good clubs. Now the only option is the Club brand one that costs more and isn't as good. I've only been using mine when I actually park somewhere sketchy so I don't wear it out unnecessarily.

When I bought my last car in 2012, my insurance company at the time had a discount for anti theft measures but only very specific ones.

Guess I should check them out. I switched from TD to The Personal when APEGA switched their preferred partner. Without the APEGA discount, TD was charging 2-3 times what The Personal is.

I'm going to ask CAA for a quote when our home insurance comes up. They used to be lower but Cooperators keeps going their rates. We have loyalty credits and claim free discounts in place.

My Club is a very old one. I can't even remember when I bought it. Maybe the quality has gone down since? This is the picture I had to send to CAA.

Yes, worth the effort to get a quote. The money you can possibly save could pay for a CAA membership if you ever need a tow or breakdown.

Does it have one hook on each side or two? I prefer the ones with two because you can't just cut the steering wheel in one spot to get them off.

personally I haven’t used one. 2 guys at work do. I have to scrape my window, and they don’t, lol. I suppose I could say they work.

Edit: I may just go ahead and order one from Amazon.

Yeah, I ve seen a few different clips on it already - & I agree that often non-North American reviews tend to be better researched, less "corporate messaging" type reviews. I also like their perspective on trucks since they do have the Hilux and others that we dont get here, less about the "glam" and more about how it actually works
