So far so good, it's about 20min west of town and under control I believe.

As a result of our taking delivery of our new Tundra we drove from Cambridge, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia to deliver our 2012 Tacoma to our niece. Close to 2000 kms and 20 hours of driving. Averaged 10L/100km. Signing the ownership, pulling the plates and cancelling the insurance tomorrow. Just shy of 296,000 kms on her. Gonna miss the Taco!

No kids to give it to so we’ve given our last two Toyotas to a my sister in law’s kids.

Hope so. Would just rather pay it forward to family than negotiate trade in values with the sharks at the dealerships. Admittedly it helps that both vehicles have been high mileage compared to many.

I know that drive well, but typically cary on to Cape Breton some of my best mpgs on the tundra are from that route!

Nice! We’ve driven through to Rivière-Du-Loup and around the Gaspe Peninsula but we’d never driven our own vehicle across New Brunswick and into Nova Scotia. That was our favourite part of the drive. Reminded us of Northern Ontario. Can’t wait to go back with the new trailer and do the Cabot Trail again. Been over two decades.

Just back from my first fill up. For my first tank the Tank Average was 12.8L/100KM over 848KM. I drove 21KM after the Fuel Low warning appeared. I added 102.42L to my 122L tank. Used 87 the first tank. Trying Shell 89 Top Tier Gas this tank. Kept it in ECO Mode the entire tank and disabled the Auto Start/Stop except the odd trip that I forgot to until I came to the first stop. I’ve now set the MID to display Trip Average and cleared the data on the infotainment screen so it’ll show the tank average.

Any guess as to your mix of highway and city driving for this tank to get that 12.8?

3 rounds trips on the 401 Cambridge to Toronto. Then mostly around the city and the region. So, maybe 60% city and county roads and 40% highway.

That's pretty good on an engine that isn't broken in. My truck would probably do between 15 and 18 in that scenario.

Wonder how many 3rd Gen owners will be trading in their newish trucks for one of these within the next 1-2 years?
I personally don’t understand why any solo or couples that overland and don’t tow would choose a Tundra over a Tacoma.
If it had the payload and towing capacity I need (it still doesn’t offer more than 6500 lbs) I’d love a 2025 Tacoma TRD Sport Hybrid 2DR Extra Cab 4X4 with a 6’ bed and the largest gas tank they offer. Probably not even an option. LOL

Why would you overland/offroad in a truck instead of an SUV?

That thing is pretty sweet! Best part you can get it in manual.
Does look like the 3rd gen tundra from a distance.

Body on frame SUV, Hopefully the new 4Runner stay that way and with a manual.

puts the outgoing model to shame. If I was looking to light money on fire, the trail version hybrid would be my choice.
    I bet it rips.

Yeah that's what I meant. If I was hardcore into off roading, my first choice would be a 4R, rather than a Taco.

I’m not an overlander or off roader but we camp, both in a travel trailer and a tent when we canoe the backcountry, so we drive down some unpaved and unmaintained roads (Atikokan to Beaverhouse Lake, Temagami Lake Access Road, Elk Lake logging road etc). Before the trailer and after each trip we used to load all of our dirty, smelly and sometimes wet gear into the back of our Matrix. Since we got the truck I much prefer being able to keep all that crap outside the cab. Just a personal preference is all.

That’s the first Tacoma that might actually interest me. If it has a reasonable payload & towing numbers….& As long as the interior ergonomics & seating are better suited. That was always my no go reason. I never fit comfortably in one. Curious et what the $$ point will be.
