When I did Taco sliders, I used a brush on all of the angled areas and then used a mini roller to get a consistent finish on the long, very visible parts. A quart was good.

I didn’t use Rustolium brand spray paint on top. It might have been cheap Princess Auto flat black - At least that’s what I always used to touch it up when I scraped them.

Thanks. Reading some Tacoma and Jeep threads and the Por15 seems to be well regarded. Many just use Rustoleum 3 coats and done, but they probably aren't in Winnipeg where the weather is a little harsher.

Brushing or Rolling was my choice as I know that stuff is toxic and I don't have a paint booth or anything. I'll be doing it between houses on my gravel driveway. ;)

Looks like I'll splurge for the Por15 metal prep and Por15 blk to undercoat it and then top coat it with a couple coats of a Flat/Matte blk paint of choice.

Thanks for the suggestion and help.

    *** edit 2022-06-16 ***
Ordered up a Qt of Por15 (semi gloss black) for the undercoat, some Por15 Degreaser (both off Amazon as it was cheapest) and will get some Por15 Metal Prep from CT.

As you said, I'll brush rough areas (top plate and corners) and roll with a small roller for the long, smooth areas.

The cost of the Por15 undercoating, will offset the cost of multiple rattle cans needed to get the 5-6 coats I was going to do. I'm guessing I'll finish with 2-3 coats of rattle can flat black now.

    @mountainpete

Cleaned, Por degreased, Por metal prep, dry, Por 15 first coat. One more coat in a few hours, then a couple coats of Rustoleum 2x Flat Black.

    That's the plan.

    Ended up doing 3 undercoats.

Wish I had a welding machine and cutting torch. That's like $5 in material and 15min of work.

How tall you want it to be? I'm gonna make 2 or 3 for myself, the bottle jacks on the truck and 4runner is useless now consider how tall they are.

Has anyone got sled deck on their Tundra?

Ok, I'm making one in next couple of weeks, it's meant to go over 12k bottle jack from Princess Auto and has about 5" additional height, I need it for the trailer too, I did not expect how tall the chassis was going to be with this trailer.

I'm having a hell of a time finding a battery to fit my Kia. Looks like the size I need is 121R - no idea if that's a typical size or not.

Intestate has one that fits. Looks like only Mr Lube sells them. They said they'd order one in for me then reversed and said they don't do that. They're supposedly looking for one at one of their other stores to see if they could bring it in. I think they said it would be about $180, though Intestate says it's $210.

Walmart has an EverStart for $140 that gets average reviews. .

Canadian Tire has a Motomaster that gets average reviews for $140. I might end up with that one.

Kia wants $250 for their battery.

Our local GM dealer is pretty good but they want $230 for one that would fit.

Napa has some brand I've never heard of for $210.

For $200, AMA would come replace it but no idea what brand it would be.

Optima doesn't make one that's the right size. I think the Odyssey is $350, out of stock and doesn't ship to Canada. ACDelco's website won't tell me what size I need and I'm not sure who sells them. Diehard looks like they only sell in the US.

    Any advice?

Have you tried Costco? I stuck one of their batteries in my '05 Tundra and it cranked well even at -40 when I forgot to plug the block heater in.

If you come to GP you can use mine. Another option is to buy a Costco gift card. No membership required to get into the store and use them.

Wife already has a Corolla. I replaced the battery in it a few months ago because the old one was so corroded, I couldn't see it, though it still worked fine. Brand new one I got from Toyota is already corroding.

I'm also not a fan of the oil filter cartridge design on the Corolla.

On the Corolla, you have to pry the trunk liner up to replace a brake light. The Kia has a little port you can open.

    But I digress.

Is that a bad brand? The lady at the store says it's the biggest manufacturer in the world and all their batteries are made in North America but I'd never heard of them.

no idea, im on my second one as I let the first go dead several times from being stupid. They were able to bring it back to life (for free i might add) but for the $150 I got a new one for piece of mind. I feel like there are only a few manufacturers and people just slap their own brand name on them.

From reading, looks like they're made by East Penn, which is supposedly one of the biggest manufacturers in North America and generally gets good reviews.

Which model and year of Kia do you have?

I had a Forte as a commuter car at one point. I think that a group 35 AGM could fit.

For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed the Kia I owned. It was a 4 door Forte SX model with a 6 speed manual. Was every bit as reliable as a Corolla and was much more fun to drive. Plus with Blizaaks the car was a fantastic commuter.
