I'm trying to convince the wife to wait a year since we already have a rental lined up for our big trip this year but she's not having any of it.

Agreed - we will likely wait one more year. The market is so hot that we could trade in our 2017 trailer for $5k more than we paid for it new.

    And back to random stuff...

I admit not to be following all of the 2022 threads - is it as bad as it sounds? Turbo issues, beds flexing into the cab, parts quality, etc, etc. Or is it just typical bandwagon and first year issues?

Looking at the truck a few times in person I sure do love the interior and the tech. The nose, not so much.

I assume a lot of it is first year issues and the guys who had no intention of buying one anyway ragging on every potential negative point as if that's the reason that they decided not to get one.

The nose looks better in person but I'm not a fan of the black piece on top of the tailgate, at least not with the blueprint colour.

I think it's alot of bandwagon posting and smug 2nd gen guys. There's a few growing pains but that's normal and it seems like Toyota is addressing them. I can only seem to nail down a dozen or so individual instances of the turbo failures. 3 separate Toyota techs I've talked to haven't seen or heard of any yet in Canada. Lots of reposting across dozens of social media places makes it seem alot bigger. The bed into the cab issue is a numpty abusing the shit out of his truck. Plastic beds do flex a bit more under load than a metal bed, so bed stiffeners will probably be in the cards for people who load and off road their trucks.

I felt confident enough to order a '22 so I guess we'll see. BTW, the nose looks way better in person. The grille isn't much, if any, bigger than the one on my 2021 F150 work truck. The way the bumper blends in with the lower part of the grille makes it seem big in pics.

Which one did you order? Did you go with the iForce Max?

    A bunch
Just typical 1st year stuff mixed in with what seems like people trying to justify their 2.5 gen is better.

While I'm disappointed in the 3rd gen - I feel like it's just a more refined version of the 2nd gen, it's still better. I just can't justify trading my 16 in on one, at least not yet. And it's not like the 2nd gens didn't have issues either, but suddenly it seems like a few think it was perfect and the 3rd gen is a massive step back.

Crewmax SR5 TRD Off Road in MGM. I had no interest in the iForce max due to the extra price with the dubious gain in mileage and the lost storage under the rear seat.

End of May or first week of June. Works out nicely since my dad is buying my '05 and it gives me time to save up even more money for a down payment.

Lifelong memories of the MJ Super 8 lol! If that’s not enough there’s a cool little wing and shake place downtown- Deja Vu I believe it’s called. I actually picked up my 2014 at MJ Toyota, they were great.

Then you missed out on the buffet drawer!

It’s a microwave adventure: 45 seconds, too cold. 60 seconds burning hot lava. 55 seconds was just right.

But the OEM tow mirrors only stick less than a inch more when unextended.

It’s more than an inch. I think the actual is 1.6” when I measured it. Not a huge difference but I was getting willows catching the edge and extending them.

I've been looking at used tundra prices and it seems like units aren't moving much by dealers or private. Maybe people are getting priced out for what they're getting back.

That's not exactly right. If they don't sell in Canada, the trucks are shipped to the USA within the month.

So basically that's why the dealers are posting a crazy price. Makes sense. The private sellers can't send them to the States, can they?

They can send the used cars to the states but there is no organized network to buy your exported car where the dealer has that network already set up and working.

I heard on the radio that any vehicle that gets software updates is a target for this kind of theft.

Not sure but they apparently just boosted the owners fob signal or plugged into the obd2 port and reprogrammed the truck.

Yeah, I think it's more to do with keyless entry and push button start than OTA software updates.

Typically they clone the signal being emitted by the key, the veh ‘recognizes’ the signal & taa daa, they drive away. Keys signal can be copied from the street often while it’s in your house at the front door.

I'm glad my truck doesn't have this feature but, if it did, my keys would stay at the back of my house, possibly in a Faraday bag.
