-20 C right now in Calgary seems like a summer day right now after the last few -30s.........just not right. Not many pests though, we baseline it every year start at zero again.

The good side of consecutively cold days: Mountain Pine Beetles might be reduced next year.

Maybe but you generally need this kind of cold right at the start of winter before they've burrowed into the trees.

Yes, ideally the snap comes early. I remember reading a study about it once that said it needed a bark temp of something like -37C for 5 days to get down deep enough. Those beetles are tough buggers!

Any hurt put on the friggen beetles is a good thing. I still haven't figured out what part in nature they actually play. Woodpeckers eat them but there's other bugs to eat. Other than prepping a forest for nature to burn down, I'm at a loss. Side note, our current methods of forest management are a complete joke.

Finally got to see a 2022 in person. There was one parked outside at Heninger Toyota in Calgary.

The truck was a white SR5 with the off road package. Otherwise it looked fairly base.

Mixed feelings. It looked small parked next to my Tundra and it would look tiny compared to a new GMC AT4. Grill is massive. But the interior looked really nice.

No desire to upgrade. I’m sure that will change after I see a lifted Pro though.

Not yet. I still have the last two recalls to have the dealer look at.

Yup. I still have the rear bumper recall outstanding as well. Kind of a pain. But at least Toyota is proactive, as opposed to trying to bury the problems.

Anyone wants the factory JBL door speakers and sub (box incld)?

edit: I'll get rid of them cheaply (or almost free), you just gotta pay shipping which I'll ship via UPS with discount rate.

S/C ftw? the distance to empty is slightly skewed after the s/c as expected, but the error seems to be less off than I thought after hand calculation at the pump.

Do you guys know of any good place I could rent a trailer (RV) in Alberta? The Go RVing website claims there are a couple dealerships that rent RVs but I don't see anything on their websites.

Never tried it since I see the cost and think it's crazy pricey - but searched 'rent travel trailer Alberta' and got a few. https://www.creeksiderv.ca/ seems like the easiest to start with

Looks like they have a Jayco with a slide that would work for us. Hope we can get all the dates to align when the parks reservations open this week. Thanks!
Looks like they only rent motorhomes and truck campers.

My local dealer has tow mirrors for $189 each. I'm thinking that's a pretty good price. Might pick some up today.

If you need the extension then it's fine to go for the Toyota tow mirrors. Regular driving the regular mirrors are far better than the tow mirrors. It's why I ended up with the GM style mirrors, I just couldn't deal with the Toyota tow mirrors on normal driving - felt like I could never get a confidence inspiring compromise with them. If it wasn't for the GM style mirrors I'd be running the small regular mirrors over the tow mirrors since I don't tow much

I started looking for mirrors because Creekside said I can't rent a trailer from them unless I have extending mirrors. We're going to buy our own trailer eventually so I figured it makes more sense for me to just buy some rather than renting slip on ones this time. That being said, I won't tow a ton even after we get a trailer.

I do really like the GM style mirrors. Any chance you have a link to them? I wasn't able to find anything when I was Googling and I can't find a link on here for some reason.

I found a few on Amazon but looks like everything is out of stock. If things don't get better by about May, I'll probably either end up with OEM lights or I'll spring for Boost Auto.

I just searched for 'Tundra tow mirrors' and had a few pop up. Pretty sure I didn't pay that much, but they've definitely gotten more popular since I installed mine
