I went from a 2003 and selected the Tundra for exactly that - it felt like a bigger Taco. You'll love the room and power. You'll hate filling the gas tank though.

For all the flack these trucks for fuel consumption, it's really not that bad, I was never able to get better than 15/16mpg on my Ram, and it had 8spd transmission and cylinder deactivation, also drove 2.7EB F150, couldn't get it better than 19mpg, so far on average on the Tundra I've been getting 15mpg on my daily use.

oh, and there seems to be discount on TRD sway bars in Canada, I was going to buy them with July 4th sales and install them myself, but my dealer is charging me $700 for front and rear installed, which is cheaper than buying the sways from Sparks.

I agree, real world numbers aren't that different. However, my intent for saying "you'll hate filling the gas tank though" was more about fuel capacity. Tundra costs at least $50 more to fill :)

A couple pics from our camping trip to Duck Mountain MB.

Yes....that sign says "highest elevation in Manitoba". :anonymous:

We normally camp ON, but had to stay in MB this year due to Covid travel restrictions. The water in every lake was crystal clear and clean. Turquoise bluish green on the lake we stayed at.

Never been up to this area, but will definitely try to get back up here. It was gorgeous and remote. No cell service, all gravel roads, limited amenities.

I just mentally prepare each fill up is $200,

Maybe worth call around, the rear parts only is only 200 something from what they said, sparks is $200 usd plus shipping and duty.

Yeah, I'm just having a hard time justifying spending that much money on one part for my truck but I hate the way it leans like a sailboat going around a curve.

    A bunch
RSB is easily worth the 200, think I paid 350 and still easily think it's worth it. Transforms the truck. I haven't done the front, based on what others have said it doesn't change the ride much. And it is a very easy install so no need to pay for that, unless it'll only be like 10 bucks.

I decided to jump on it after few tows at rate limit up north on those windy cottage roads, just not fun, then was pleasantly surprised to find out its cheaper to buy local, I think toyota Canada is clearing out some space for the new tundra parts.

On the book is 0.75hrs for the rear, 1.25hr front I think, rear is pretty easy from what I see, if rear only, then definitely diy

Looks like at my dealership the sway bar is $382, down from $450.

Hmmm that's high, I wonder if there's a discrepancy between ON and AB, I also just noticed they saying they will be discontinuing the part number in Canada.

May be tempted to drive to MB for camping, was bit of a poop show this year, seems people just lost their minds when going camping now.

The agitations and aggression from people, I take kids camping and now my son is older I take him to "boys" camping with guy friends, the usual, campfire, lots of food and beer.

    - One guy threaten to start a fight with us because he can hear Phil Collins playing (which we weren't playing music), I kid you not, his wife apologize to us saying he's drunk and we let it be.
    - A group of young lads pumping euro beats 2 spots over ours until morning, throwing beer cans at ranger and cops are called (took a long time since we were pretty far north)
    - On crownland camping, 2 strange dudes tried to steal our guns.

Its like people are just batsh*t insane the last 16 months, there was once that some folks almost got into a brawl for like campfire smoke.

We just now camp at property and mind our own business, the worst part now is the traffic, which is pretty wild when you think of it, rural Ontario and there would be traffic jam of people, everyone carrying kayaks, canoes, doing 60 in 80 zone, people waving in and out traffic tried to cut through.

I'm glad we didn't buy a trailer as planned, there's no where to go.

We wouldn't buy a trailer right now. You can't get sites and we all know trailer prices are crazy. We've had our used 17' hybrid for 10y now, paid $10k for it and use it a few weeks a year. We got our money out of it and I continue to patch and fix things up. Soft floor, canvas, no A/C, nothing works as it should...but that's all part of camping and I'm to cheap to pay $35k for a new one. The beds work and that's all that matters to me. My wife refuses to sleep in a tent, so this will serve us until the kids move out and I hope to purchase an A-Frame or small hardside (not canvas of slides).

I hope to do some remote, backwoods (fire roads) camping with the kids to avoid people. It used to be mainly families and you could book a week before. Times have changed the last couple years, people are auctioning sites and uses bots to book them.

Luckily where we were, there were ZERO problems with campers. Likely due to 80km of gravel roads in, no cell service etc and not close to any major cities.

MB camping is so cheap, many book and use as placeholders. If they go great, if not, they are only out $15 a night or $10 total if they cancel more than 2 days in advance. Our campground was completely booked online, but there were a ton of sties unoccupied. We had no one beside us the whole week, it was awesome.

It's the City craziness, they get locked in and want to burst and go partying, my buddy in Calgary was telling me about how it's a sh*t show now camping in Alberta within couple hours drive of Calgary/Edmonton too.

Suddenly everyone is outdoorsy, I'll just wait and buy cheap kayaks/canoes/trailer in a year off Kijiji.

My family owns a lake lot so we spend as much time out there as we can. We're meeting my wife's parents in Banff on Friday, though. That will be their second or third trip there this year and so far things have been ok. :fingerscrossed: They always seem to end up next to someone noisy in Radium but Banff has tended to be a bit better for them recently. I guess if it really sucks, we'll ditch them and go to the lake.

I've been to Lake Superior PP and Chutes PP as well as Elliot Lake so far this summer and everything has been fine here. Although busy and sites are lottery wins... No problems with loud or ignorant people.

I'm going to Algonquin end of August and the wife put her foot down and is refusing to camp in a tent any more. I'm not buying trailer right now so I ended up renting an RV for the week in August. lol. I'm trying to sway her to trailer instead of wasting money on hotels.

Lake Superior and Chutes are too far for people in Toronto, I got lazy and booked some sites like Ferris, Sturgeon bay and kilbear, Algonquin is always alright, now I just camp on the property we have up near Barry's bay, downside is lousy drive.

Just wait on trailers, guaranteed people are going to list them for sale by next year for lot less, I can't believe how they are selling them with 25years financing to people.

HA...I was browsing what trailer I want after the covid campers start selling and noticed that on some dealer sites....240 month financing. I didn't even finance my house for that long.

It's funny, most sites don't list prices either. They say $350 bi weekly, but that's for 15-20 years or longer. No thanks.

240 months financing for something that's designed to last 5years, there are very few campers out there I'd spend serious coins for.

Oh, I also notice trd wheels for taco and 4runners are now only 300 each at dealership, great if you have a first gen tundra.

People are insane. I travel deep into the backcountry to get away from people. We're actually planning to buy a river boat in the next year or two once prices stabilize just so we can get further from people. If anyone has ideas of Canadians being polite, just go into the woods on a weekend. All such notions will be dissuaded rapidly.

That's a decent price for the wheels. I paid about that a few years ago after exchange and shipping from a dealer in California. At the time, the TRD SEMA wheels were almost $500 each at Canadian dealers.
