Seems Toyota is putting the safe in many trucks. Not crazy about it....anyone checked to see if the safe is easily removable?

I believe you can, crack open the safe and there should be bolts down at the bottom - loosen and it should come out. Someone should chime in confirming.

At the end of the day it could be the difference between getting what I want or not. The safe seems to sacrifice a lot of storage space....IMO

Yeah I hear ya there - I've learned to live with it. I think I keep a spare hamilton and a first aid kit in mine.

    Here's a video of an install on a 2.5 gen - from Tundra34 guy

It does...but then it's lockable when you want to park and lock up some valuables...it's a trade off for sure.

Remove the 4 bolts that are hidden by the bottom mat covers. You may have to play with the position of the console cover when pulling the safe out though. Should be pretty easy. I installed one and like having the lockable security. The huge space I had before just accumulated a bunch of crap.

How much space do you need? Lol

it will be great, because I don’t have to hide my wallet and phone under the seat when going for a run

Is it the half or the full width safe? If it's the half, I'm interested in buying it if you remove it.

for guys that have safe, just how large is the interior space? could it fit a holstered mid-sized handgun complete, like a G19 in a raven concealment padel back holster, its a bulky set up wont fit in every small safe set up.
my build has no safe I may be interested in picking one up from someone that wants to pull it out. thanks

Pretty sure I could fit at least four handguns with their respective holsters in the case along with a bunch of mags.

More importantly I can fit a whole case of snickers bars in there during the winter with no fitment issues.

seems like the lid or the latch is rattling. It’s not locked so maybe that’s why. I have no idea how to lock it or set the code.

Not specifically designed to be vehicle mounted so did not have any holes. Had to drill them. There's only two, wasn't hard. Pulled the console plastic out, flipped everything upside down on my tailgate, marked the existing hole locations, and drilled the safe.

You'll love it. That one is their Compact Handgun Safe. NOT cheap, especially with COVID prices. But built like a brick shithouse and very fast. I have a different FAS1 model next to my bed and love it for the same reasons.

    Which safe do you have?
    This one?

    https://youtu.be/1wqGYhKIi0w

My lock'r down vault lid used to rattle.
I put a piece of rubber weatherstrip I had laying around in the groove where it shuts.
But it has to be latched and locked.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it would have a key/numbers or the simplex lock. I would want one with the simplex because it can be unlocked without looking at it. I will pass on the OEM one, thanks again for the pic.

I can open mine without looking at it.

Amazon.com: FJM Security Products Combi-Cam E, 7910-K10, Electronic Cabinet Lock, Black Finish : Tools & Home Improvement

One could probably replace the OEM door lock with this one.

That's an option, thanks. I think I'll end up taking a similar route that @Ellis_McPickle took with the FAS1. They make many sizes and I think I can fit the larger one, but I have to double check with that. I have the simplex locks on all my quick access safes, so I'm going to try and keep that consistency. If the OEM was simplex it be perfect. Maybe I can swap one in but I haven't seen any available for that type of mount.
