Just a generic reminder for anyone, grade 8 standard is not the same as grade 8.8 metric. Metric also has a 12.9 grade and those are usually allen head fasteners.

Checked today while ding my facelift and new shoes. 17mm for '06. I probably have my old bolts also, I can test threading and shank. I'm thinking this may be OP's problem. Someone replaced the knuckle with an older year. Which means he'd need a later year LBJ, and later year bolts. But he'd need to test the threading of the knuckle to figure out the thread pitch so we could try to nail down the year, maybe?

Only problem is I can’t test the threading because there is none. It is completely stripped off.

the other two thread just perfectly with the original size bolts

Update: threw some Jb weld on it to keep anything from spinning or unthreading, obviously wouldn’t help much with shear but 150 miles later we’re still good.

Risky proposition driving on that, but you do you.

www.car-part.com and try to find another 2000 year knuckle.

The knuckle on these are the same as many other Toyotas and so they are plentiful at junkyards or just order on eBay.

    Sweet thanks, great website!

Any idea if I could put a later model year spindle on if I upgrade my ball joint to that same year? Or are there other things that don’t match up too?
There may also have been a cord of wood and a 5x8 dump trailer in the mix there too

Based on research I did, you can do this, but I haven't done it yet so not 100% positive.

I’ve seen 4Runners which share the 2000 spindle LBJ upgraded with 2005/6 spindle,LBJ, backing plate and brakes. IIRC bearings and hubs are interchangeable.

Oooo cool. Not sure if I wanna take that potential risk of it not fitting so I'll do some more research because this is definitely interesting, and if possible I'd like to do it.

I tried sending Fr33 lance fab a message about it but I have not heard back, they're on honeymoon or something I guess.

Loyal yard had a compatible non- abs spindle off a 4runner, and I could have sworn I checked and my truck was non- abs so I purchased it. Just to realize tonight mine is ABS. Is that possible to run a non- ABS spindle on an abs truck?? I'm assuming it will leave that ABS line with nowhere to go, but will that be a problem?

Fr33 lance got back to me, they said they have upgrade early model spindles to later ones before.

Your ABS light will be on in the dash. ABS can't necessarily function without a functional sensor at all 4 wheels. I'd hunt down an ABS knuckle.

Oh okay. I just ordered an ABS one so good to know it’s the best route.

I do already have an abs light on I think the abs wheel speed sensor isn’t attached on my rear left wheel so maybe it wouldn’t have mattered but whatever.

I mean, it would've mattered if you ever choose to fix the rear. Replacing the knuckle is not something I'd want to do again later. UBJ on this truck are, in my memory, the worst I've dealt with on any vehicle. If it's not already done, I'd just get the right part and do it. Get the front up to snuff with ABS. Deal with the rear later.

Update: Replaced the steering knuckle, can now sleep soundly knowing that my lower ball joints are attached in the intended way.

And I guess for anyone who encounters this problem in the future, the nuts held up for me for a few hundred miles, who knows how long they would've lasted.
It is a fine, definitely sketchy, absolutely no guarantees, kind of solution that should/ might hold up until you get replacement spindle.
Suggestions would be to use washers, and potentially grind the knuckle so the nuts sit flat.
