I just got my JBA LT headers in a few days ago. I decided to buy mine once I saw several build posts and the great results. I am going to tackle the installation within the next week or so. I was wondering if I could keep my stock mid-pipes, and just shorten my catbacks instead? It would be easier for my to cut and weld the cutbacks instead of trying to mod the mid pipes to keep my cats. What are your thoughts?

You would have to cut the front of the stock mid pipes.

This is not advisable. They are 2” and the best size is 2.5-3”.

Also, the stock mid pipes are double wall tubing. Cutting them is easy enough I suppose. But you’d need to weld double wall pipe. There is no correct procedure for this.

If using a catback designed for an otherwise stock truck you will want to build 2.5” mid pipes with all 4 stock cats.

Sounds like a lot of work for someone that is a pro. It may be better if I have you do the midpipes for me instead. I’ll give you a call. Thanks.
