Once my dog is in, he refuses to get out. Dude will sit in there overnight if I don't remove him. LOL

I think it just depends on the dog doesnt it?
This one can just lean down and into the truck but needs to be lifted because he likes it I think?
Big dogs can be weird about their feet too sometimes and will hesitate and once they decide it wont work,it can take some work to get them over it.

Thanks for this...I am gonna look into it.

I've had my Tundra for a year (2007 DC), but my dogs have yet to be in it. We usually just take them in the 2009 Highlander, but that's gonna have to change since getting the Airstream and needing the Tundra to tow it.

Our Border Collie mix Wilma is less than 40 pounds...she can be scooped up and put in if she won't go, even though she is pretty agile.

Tennessee, on the other hand, is more skittish by nature, weighs close to 90 pounds, and doesn't really take to somebody trying to pick him up.

My old golden would put her two front paws on the seat then ask me for a boost. I almost liked helping her, lol.

I have found that if I open all the windows, including the sunroof and the back window, and drive for about ten minutes at interstate speeds, I have a lot less dog hair to vacuum!

My 100 pound blood hound and 110 pound Pyrenees jump right in with a 3 inch lift and 35s. They always load in the bed to drive around the pastures. Just jump up.

My 80lb blue heeler mix has zero problems getting in and out. I usually lift one back seat up, then set it back down once he is inside. But he has no issue jumping in the back with the seat down either, sometimes he jumps in before I get a chance to lift the seat. I do have him trained to exit the truck slowly though so it's not bad on his joints.Resized_20200615_134256.jpg 20210705_164517.jpg

My 85 pound lab will jump in if he has a head start, so I have to lift him in when we are in the garage. He will put fronts up and look back like why am I not in the truck yet? If I give him the same look back and some encouragment he will eventually jump in on his own. He will not get out unless we go for a ride.

All of those Aussie breeds are at least 1/2 cat too though in my experience and can jump straight up in the air effortlessly!
Little Bastards are smarter than we are too!

Chestnut Mountain Bluff in Relianc, TN. Beautiful hike, Sumo always goes ahead and waits at the top of each hill. He's like a mountain goat.

He's definitely intelligent. Off leash trained, and we have our own signals for communication. He knows hand signals, head nods, verbal commands, he was super easy to train. I'm trying to convince my buddy to let me breed him with his full blooded blue heeler, who is also incredibly smart.

I know a lot of Horse People with Aussie breeds and they are a little intimidating once you realize they are staring and wondering why I am such a dumbass sometimes?!

Gorgeous. I used to have an Aussie with that color pattern and he was 100mph. No problem getting into the truck, even though at the time it was a lifted F-150.

Any idea what he's mixed with? Is that lab/retriever I see in his face?

The irony of this for me is that in years past I would never let my dogs even ride in the truck because I kept it immaculate and didn't want their hair anywhere near it. Now that I have the nicest, newest truck I've ever owned, and a dog that sheds more than any other dog on the planet, I take her with me everywhere. She rides in the truck constantly, and the carpet is loaded with dog hair lol. These days, the companionship is more important to me than the truck. She's fun to pal around with. I suppose I can count that as personal growth. Still, doesn't mean I'm not vacuuming the damn thing all the time... :D

I have a friend with 2 Newfies and I swear you could build a spare dog with what they shed in a month!
They are also strange about getting in the truck. The older one needs or wants to be lifted up but the Puppy will jump up and through the open window if you are not watching her.

They also can get bad Hip issues as do most big Breeds so lifting them up is not that big a deal to help with that too.

The real trouble though is when they want to help you drive!

When I got him at 3 months old they told me he was Blue Heeler/ St bernard. So when he grew to 80lbs, I believed it, but I got a DNA test recently and it surprised me. Screenshot_20211003-160427_Samsung Internet.jpg Screenshot_20211004-190212_Samsung Internet.jpg

I have 2 about 100 Lbs Great Pyrenees. One can get in without any help the other can get her front paws up and in no problem but I have to give her a boost. Our basset shelty mix (about 45 lbs) can jump in with his little dwarf legs with no issues. It kinda funny, so it is totally dependent on the dog.

On the other hand my wife cannot get in without the running board ;)
