Brah, it took me a week to come to grips with reality. You are running some fine adventures and it's making me and the blushing bride feel old. Raised in Tucson and we were running all over the desert and up into Colorado in the '70's in a lifted 1/2t Chevy 4x4. I realize now I'm past it and with all the fused bones and hardware in me I'm just not able to sustain the life style. 'Glory Days', you know?

This spot is north of the Cherohala Skyway and just west of the Joyce Kilmer -Slickrock and have found the perfect spot where I don't have a soul within 1/2 mile, besides bears!

I'm planing on getting into the NC side and exploring that side of the wilderness further this coming months.

@osidepunker , one of the things I noticed about your rig and really appreciate is you have nothing above or outside the profile of the cab. I had a camper on that Chevy that stuck up above about 6" and ended up reinforcing the corners with 2x2 angle iron. I have creased the cab roof on most of my off road rigs by sliding under low branches and brush. I can't imagine having a $1000 light bar up there like some people do.

thanks for noticing! I planned this build from the start to keep everything in the bed and in the cab. I did not want a roof rack or rear bumper swingouts for several reasons.

This truck is a performance rig. I want all my gear weight low and centered for best handling. My RTT is mounted as low as possible. My fluids (25 ga fuel or water) are located directly behind the cab on the floor of the bed. Two full size spares (about 180 lbs) are laid flat on the bed directly above and mostly forward of the rear axle. Light stuff like misc gear and firewood is located in the rear of the bed. Nothing in the factory spare tire area or behind the rear bumper. Tools, recovery equipment, fridge, drinking water, and misc gear is located in the rear of the cab. This is a 2 person recreational vehicle. I can bomb trails super fast and take corners hot and it handles beautifully. Or I can take tight technical trail and the truck is as small as a full size can be. I was able to fit a full compliment of camp systems; hot water system, fridge, tent, 210 Ah electrical system, etc. I also have on board air with tank, 60" hilift, 12.5k winch, and full armor (skids, sliders, bumpers).

when I first got The Truck, I almost bought a 4 Wheel Camper. I even had one priced out with all the options. At the last minute I changed my mind and went with an RTT

Nice, I had a feeling it was AZ! I lived in Tucson for a while and went up to Big Lake a few times, good trout fishing up there.

@Pvarela07 I just was at Sliding rock with my youngest son the weekend of June 25. Got there around 10:30am not to busy but an hour later it was packed.
Took couple of the service roads just to see what was down some of them and of course more people. Did not camp just took a drive with the family.

Don't forget to hit the Ecusta Brewery on your way out. That was the least crowed part of the day.

For the Canada Day weekend, we were able to get away to Arrowhead Provincial Park in Ontario. Had a good time out.
Photo dump thread coming either before my week Holiday if I get a chance or will be once I return.

What canopy is that for the picnic table? Looking to get one to keep bugs out when we eat. Been looking but need something light weight and easy to put up.

It's the Eureka Breeze. Sets up pretty easy with 2 people, doable with 1 as well. Just a little more man handling required.
We can fit 2 picnic tables under it with a walk through. Sides roll down to fully enclose or can keep the mesh there to reduce bug entrance.

IMG_3018.jpg IMG_3031.jpg Love this kodiak truck tent for beach camping. The sturdy metal poles and canvas tent hold up great against strong winds at the beach. Not a good as the four wheel camper I used to have but for the price it works amazing

Couldnt cook the wings over the fire this time due to the shape of the fire pit, so we cooked up a pound of bacon and fried the wings in the grease, spiced with montreal steak spice. They were pretty damn good.

When we were younger, my wife and I would tent camp. There's something really beautiful in the simplicity of tent camping. Makes me wish I had one for the bed or an rtt. Now, with the kids and being older, we camp in a travel trailer. We've had to suffer with having A/C and heat and a bathroom for 8 outings so far this year. It sucks, I know! And I will have to live with the shame and embarrassment on our trip this weekend again.

    Seriously, cool pics guys.
