I'm getting a bed rack next week, and I'm currently tearing my hair out with the whole ground tent vs. RTT decision right now. Those Gazelle tents are freaking sweet!

I still love my RTT and won't be going back to a ground tent anytime soon, but for those doing ground, Gazelle seems to be where its at.

I have a rack and RTT. Love that it’s up away from bugs! Good that LadyG is only 8lbs or I’d be in trouble. But just got a ground tent for when I want to be light on the trail. :angrygirl:

I love the idea of the RTT, but like the idea of being able to 'leave camp at camp' and just jump in the truck and head into town or down a trail without having to pack everything up.

I already have a somewhat decent noname brand ground tent, but being up and off the ground is appealing to me!

Yeah I hear you. It’s pretty easy to get out if you have everything picked up the night before and organized for the AM. I wouldn’t trade my RTT for a ground tent for the foreseeable future, after an RTT would go off road trailer. Full disclosure I carry an old tent to mark my spot if need be.

Would be good to do for our Yellow Post sites in CA, camp sites on first come basis once it’s claimed.
    Any like that there?

It definitely looks like the best setup for remote camping access!

I really like it. I can go where many cannot especially the forest roads here in the Blue Ridge Mtns and garage storage is a plus.

That's not a bad idea either. I figure once I have my ideal setup put together I will have some sort of annex that I could leave assembled somewhere to mark my spot. Anything that is worth stealing gets tossed in the truck, everything else gets shoved in the annex, and I head on down the road/trail for the day to wherever.

True! But also more crawling around instead of walking around once you're up the stairs and in the RTT...

I went Gazelle but I also have a cot to be up off the ground. Pretty good set up and doesn’t take much space in the bed.

I will probably be going travel trailer too in the near future but for now this works for my family of 3.

The RTT I wanted was half way to a travel trailer already lol.

Looks like a potato bug. When I lived up at the coast they were everywhere just below the soil. Used to catch them and keep them in a bowl for a few days with dirt. The kids would feed them and touch their butts lol. Then we'd let em go
