Also looking at the iceco vs a Dometic. Looking to power one with a Jackery 1000 and charge that with a solar panel or two and the truck when driving. Y’all have any better recommendations for powering these?

Pretty much what I'm gonna do. Might use my jump starter pack 12v too here and there just to get some use on it. I got one of those harbor freight viking packs

I’ve heard good things about Iceco. My buddy has one, a few people on this forum have it and has survived off-road abuse.

Think what mostly goes wrong with freezers is the compressor and iceco uses high quality German components. Do the dometics use the same?

I ran a test with my Iceeco and my Ecoflow River Pro (720 wh). It powered the Iceeco in eco mode for over 3 days before needing recharging. I was very impressed with both units.

Pretty sure they use the same compressor, not 100% positive, but I thought I’d ready that in a comparison article.

This is similar to my setup, i have a setpower, looks to be nearly identical to yours . I think it may actually be the same just rebranded. Dometic and arb are nice and all, a d i get the whole cry once buy once bit, but mines been going strong for like a year or so now and its all offroad use, and if it craps out i could buy like 5 more before i hit the price of the others.

Iceco and Dometic both use danfoss compressors. Best part about these is that if the electronics ever fail you can add in a 3rd party thermostat for $15. I got a free Dometic, fixed it, and sold it for a bigger iceco. No regrets.

Yup, with Iceco coming in half the price of the Dometic.

Also as an fyi, if anyone is looking for a fridge for the summer, they’re running a gb over on mud in April for iceco fridges. Was able to get my 42L for $283 shipped last year. I suggest becoming a member and checking it out if interested. @sharpecat is the guy to talk to

Ih8mud. It’s a land cruiser/off-road forum. You can actually score some really good deals over there. Some tundra users that are only on there and not here or tundra talk

This damn forum... I was perfectly happy with my Costway fridge and then I started looking at Iceco's after reading about them here. Now I'm out $500 for a new fridge. The one I got (JP40) is the same size but uses half the power, which will be a pretty significant improvement especially when it's cloudy/shady.

After wheeling with my fridge I’ve discovered that I hate, hate, hate, hate, did I say hate yet? hate my beers moving around, rolling around, making noise, shaking and ready to explode on me.

What do y’all do to occupy that free space to prevent things (not just beer) from partying like a jumpy house?

My Iceco comes with a drop in cage/basket and devider. Makes it a little easier to organize.

Pack the empty space with more food, or better yet, with more beers. I had stuff break and make a mess in there so now I try to organize it so things can't move around too much. I also cut out some 1/4" foam mat to fit in the bottom and help absorb some of the vibration/shock. You could use a hand towel or something to take up the empty space and provide some padding. Bags of chips or bread work good for that too.

Something quick that comes to mind is you could stuff a few towels in the free space? Multi purpose, lightweight and doesn't take up too much room outside of the cooler.

Maybe you could setup a divider to keep stuff straight using something like a thick plastic cutting board that is the width of the inside of your cooler. Wrap the edges of the cutting board in something like rubber so it seats a little better against the cooler walls.

For me though it depends on how much consumable food I am packing in, as that gets packed around my drinks and coffee creamer. Like you, I've discovered stuff starts making noise eventually. I've been experimenting cutting up 12pks and trying to keep the cans in there but they don't always last.

Rinse out the empty ones and throw em back in? Or get a bag of balloons to inflate to push down.

there is a foam 6 pack holder often used on snowmobiles to keep beer from self destructing, would be easy to make with a few layers if 1.5” foam.

Great suggestions so far, which has got me surfing the web all morning. I've been leaning towards the making some sort of divider and at the same time placing the empty can back in methods, which has led me to finding this.
    upload_2022-3-21_10-0-20.jpg
Insert these into the fridge vertically, with the handles facing up, take a can out, drink it, then put the empty can back in its original spot. This way I don't have to dig through the empty cans that would be sitting on top of the unopened cans on the bottom.

I have sections of those foam pool noodles that I jamb in there to take up space. If you cut them a little long so they fit snug against the sides of the fridge they stay in place pretty good.
