Would like to know if any of you have put campers on. Any advice on selection of the proper on would be appreciated. Just got new shocks and will be getting air bags in the near future.

Yup! I have an ARE (crap, can’t remember the model) it’s the basic one. Free carpet liner and did the drop down/fold down window. The paint has held up well. No complaints. I will advise you to ask for two layers of seal/tape. My leaked bad after the first rain and I took it back to the dealer and they put a second layer of tape down and no issues since.

I have a 19 4wc hawk on my 19 DC limited and couldn’t be happier. Air bags are a must. Additionally, you will need E rated tires, anything less will be cut if it even sees a rock. Let me know if you have any questions on campers or the rig. I spent months looking into the dream build. I have a few more upgrades in the mail the and I’ll likely post a full build thread going over both the truck and camper.

@RideorDie Do you know what your truck weighs with the camper on it? Been going back and forth with them, but I can't get the weight numbers to work out. With the Raven model and extras I want on it, it comes in at 1450 lbs. Nice looking set up.

I am actually taking it back in to be scaled this week with the camper on and wet. My truck weighed~5300 If memory serves correctly prior to camper and camper weights 1450 dry. Once I get back in town I can give you actuals of pre and post camper. Honestly the truck is handling the weight just fine. I don’t feel undergunned in the breaking or engine department. I am going to consider putting stiffer suspension in the front and the sway bar in the back but those are just wants...not needs

Very few campers are light enough for a tundra

And passengers and gear. Campers don't make sense for our payload-limited trucks. You want a camper? Get a more capable truck.

That is correct. If I go that route it will be on an F250.

I was looking at a 2018 Sierra 1500 with the max trailering package (7600 lb GVWR, higher payload, etc) and it had a sticker on it that expressly forbade using it to haul a slide in camper. Therefore, I can't see how it could be safe or legal to haul one in a Tundra with a 7200 lb GVWR and less than 1500 lbs of payload capacity.

Wow awful lot of tundras with fwc. Can even imagine why someone said tundras aren't capable.

Because they aren't. The poster above even said his Camper weighs 1450 lbs dry. His limited 4X4 DC Tundra probably has a payload of somewhere in the ballpark of 1570 lbs. That means when he puts the empty camper on his truck, he only has 120 lbs of payload left. Once he gets in the truck - he is legally overweight. Then you pile all of your gear, other passengers, bikes, water, etc - and you are really overweight. Putting airbags on does nothing to increase your payload (it actually lowers your payload technically) - it just makes it not sag as much. The payload for the Tundra is pretty pathetic.

Just because "alot of people do it" doesn't make it right. "Alot of people" ignore payload ratings just because "the truck will haul it just fine". It's ignorant and can create some dangerous situations.

I'm finding that out. Weighed it today with me and a full tank. 7200 gross and 6190 actual. Probably better tell my wife that there may be a tent that I can haul.

Could you post some pics. My sticker says 7200 gross and with a full tank and me it weighs 6190. Not much to work with.

Could throw the camper on a little utility trailer, take it off when not in use. Thats kinda what I do.

Have a boat that I tow. My wife has a little 4runner that could, but I really don't know if I have enough time on this earth in talking her into towing a trailer.
