Yeah probably. My genesis two burner should last forever, but it was a lot when I bought it, and far more now. I’d want to camp with someone and watch them work the Tembo Tusk so I get the gist of it, before committing. I haven’t read anywhere about anyone not loving theirs though.

Get an old plough disk and put a burner under it....You have a skottle at a 1/4 of the price.

You say that. But the cool thing about the Scottle is that bit welded below that hold the burner. It is a very good design that, unless you weld, isn’t easy to replicate.

I just purchased the Camp Chef Tundra 3 from Costco. Haven’t used it yet but seems well built. Got it for $199

Best deal around....cheapest two burner on Craigslist. Typically Colemans. I'm on my second one now. I don't even remember what I did with my first. Paid $25 for my current one and it's been going for 10 years. I've cooked for just myself, and even meals for six. I also have a small propane portable grill. The small ones...fits maybe 3-4 steaks. In combination with that, I could easily cook a feast for 6+ people.

I'm sure the stoves that are being discussed (over $100) are great and probably have several pros over an old Coleman, but I suspect most of us are weekend camping. 4-6 meals max. I don't need a stove that a chef would prefer to make meals out in the woods. Hell, if So Cal allowed open fires, I might not even bring a stove or grill. Just a grill grate off my Weber 22". Use four rocks to support it and it would be my grill and stove all in one. When I camped several years ago and campfires were allowed, I just kept the grill grate with a wire brush in plastic trashbag and stuffed in my Trasharoo. Simple and reduced amount of gear I had to carry.

You’re both right! I’ve always loved my Coleman. Grew up with my dad having one. But breaking gear driving fast off-road got me motivated to invest in gear that is light, compact, and to pack it so it is protected. So I’ve been rocking the Genesis (damn! it’s expensive in that link) for a couple years and it is bomb!

I have seen this reviewed multiple times and it looks like an amazing piece. Love how nicely it packs down. If my kid really gets into camping, may have to upgrade to this.

one question: some people say on the reviews that the line that connects the bottle to the stove can be awkward. Have you found that to be true?

It's simple steel line like other stoves but I have a steel braided extension that goes to a 5lb bottle. No issues at all

Jetboil products are pretty slick. I've been fortunate to work with their marketing team for almost 5 years to support the brand. The Genesis really does a fantastic job for all around use camping. I've got their Eureka Ignite+ stove- which has adjustable feet which is a win so your food doesnt slide to the back or one side. Also, if you're into it- the Jetboil cookware has the same fins on the bottom and work well for boiling water.

Got a link to this extension? (I haven't found one with the right connectors.)

Agreed. I clean the grill tray which is not too bad and wipe out the bottom, not really spending much time on it. I store mine in a container and don't worry about it too much.

I do the same since it's so cheap....I'm going to line the inside with foil next time to see if it helps with cleanup time.

Couple of deals I sorta dug up. Also, Coleman stuff usually goes on sale during prime day. Snatched up quite a bit of stuff last year

I've used a variety of different camping pellet stove over the years, but my favorite is the Dweller Stove Campfire. It's lightweight, portable, and incredibly efficient. I've used it in all kinds of weather, from hot summers to cold winters, and it's always performed flawlessly.

Keep us posted! But I doubt you’ll run into any issues considering it’s a Coleman

I have a vintage late 50's Coleman two burner still going strong that I snagged at a pawn shop for $8. Replaced some still available seals for 25 cents. Will still be going strong after the way overpriced skottles fad is but a memory.
