Dang, last time I went camping was just before the pandemic hit. Propane bottles were sold everywhere. Guess now I have to hunt for them. Just wondering why there’s a big demand for them now?

Heaven knows. . . it might be the 'Dooms-Dayers' prepping for Armagedon/ Civil Unrest, maybe thinking they'll have to 'Bug-Out' . . . or utilities/ gas will be cut. Maybe similar to the ammo/ gun sales and the great toilet paper rush of 2020. I personally don't see it going anywhere any time soon. Both Walmarts by me have it, so does Homer-De-Pot, so it might just be a supply chain thing right now. But what do I know.

If you're able weld , I would look into building your own skottle/cowboy wok. If you buy the 22 inch dish and then weld some feet and a burner holder on the bottom you can use 3/4 conduit to make the legs of it and then you use a single burner Coleman for the heating element. Can build the whole thing for about 60 bucks and no longer need to carry pots and pans.

I suspect it's the same reason you can't find bike tires: people are bored and looking for things they can do outdoors far away from everyone else.

Depending on how minimal you want to go the JetBoil is a great idea and what I use while climbing in Colorado. If you want more cooking choices then this might not work for you.

I’d hate to guess how much propane has been through mine. Works as good as new.

Hard to beat the Coleman two burner for price and function, I use it on small trips and have a large campchef Tahoe for larger gatherings

Around here we call it a disco! It is a great option i just use a three legged burner and is compact. It also fits a large cast iron pan as well.20210810_190536.jpg

I have a couple of these and have tested their 'simmerability.' The butane burner can be set to much lower heat that either propane or Coleman fuel, so this butane model is much better for cooking eggs or for use as a warmer.

Thanks, yeah I'm probably gonna pick one up in a couple months or so. Waiting to see if a sale happens. Don't really want or need to carry this and the two burner coleman but the ease of setup, portability, and the need for only one burner, are a huge plus in certain situations

I’ve had this Coleman 2 burner that takes the 1lb tanks since I was 15, so it’s now 30 years old, the only thing I’ve done to it is beat the hell out of it. Matched with a cast iron grill plate and I’ve cooked just about everything on it

2 burner Coleman and spend the savings on a griddle and other accessories.

31 years ago, my parents bought one, and two of Coleman’s gas lanterns for our first family camping trip. They still use it to this day, and I have one for my family as well.

Which reminds me - I need to ask for all that to be handed down one day!

Same here. I've used it a fair bit now and zero complaints.
I happened to have a small cast iron griddle and it worked great for cooking breakfast . . . even did a couple New York steaks on it that came out great.
The temp control works great for a camp stove, and it seems to be pretty efficient on propane so far.
That starter still works, but I do keep a lighter handy just in case. (Knock on wood).

I received this "white gas" one for free a few weeks ago when I bought some cots off of Craigslist.
After doing some research on how to know the date of manufacture, I found out that this was originally made in 1968!
It wasn't working when I got it, but I cleaned it up a bit, got all the rust out of the tank and replaced a gasket and it fires right up. Looking forward to seeing how it does.

Coleman still makes these types of white gas stoves to this day.

I've been using these for 20 years, they work great and I get 10 years or so out of each. Every Asian food store sells them and butane cheap. What they don't work for us wind.

I switched to a Camp Chef Everest 2X, two years ago for it's wind resistance. Other than being big, it's an excellent stove and works great when the wind is ripping down the Willamette river.
