Can anyone comment on the sound difference between the regular budget system and the budget dumped system with helmholtz resonator?

I’ve had both, and ended up keeping the regular system. The dumped system sounded awesome, but after some time I needed something a little quieter. The regular system fit that need, and my kids still grin ear-to-ear every time I hit the gas.

Ok so even with both having the resonator, the dumped system will be louder?

Resonators are not designed to make it quieter. They cancel the resonance that causes drone. There might be a small impact to the volume, but a dumped system will always be louder than an equivalent system with a full pipe.

Yep. The tailpipe makes the overall sound quieter. But more importantly it gives the resonator room to cancel out the drone. The dumped system just has a couple inches after the helmholtz resonator so the out of phase sound waves don’t have enough space/time to cancel out 130hz.

Ok makes sense. I used to have a 6” system on an old tundra. I’m debating this time going for the budget system. Is the budget system significantly louder than the 6” system? My main concern would be really pissing off all my neighbors at 6am on cold starts.

Also how many of you guys go for the aluminized and have you had any issues with it? (I’m in central CA so no snow except for mountain trips in winter)

Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would get a muffler on their BAM system after hearing the difference between the 6” and the standard budget. It sounds soooooo mean, but not obnoxious at all.

Ask your neighbors what they think of your current exhaust. Going to a full straight pipe is going to be a lot louder.

Oh, my bad. I thought you had the 6" and were looking at a budget. One awesome thing with the BAMuffler is the sound guarantee. If you buy the budget, and don't like the sound, or the neighbors hate you, you can exchange it for the 6" system. You just have to cover shipping, but since you are in CA it might be cost effective to just exchange in person.

I remember liking the volume level of my 6” system a lot, but also sometimes wishing it had a slightly deeper tone.

The 6” and budget aren’t that far in sound from each other with the budget only being slightly louder.

the mufflers in the 6” are only there to clean up the sound, not make it quieter.

Ordered mine today! Super excited and can't believe how good of a price Keith is offering on these. Also, he genuinely seems like a nice guy on the phone. Usually I hate calling businesses to order because people act like you are an inconvenience while giving them your money. The conversation was short but I felt like I could sit and drink a beer with him. Maybe he is just a great salesman but either way I was happy to give him my money. I went with the 10" system for those wondering.

Just spoke with Keith and placed my order for the 10"!! Super nice dude and he was very helpful when I had questions. Couldn't decide between the 8 or 10 and because I pull a camper, he steered me to the 10. I'm super stoked and can't wait!! If you're on the fence and you qualify, jump on this deal! There isn't likely to be another hookup like this again. Thanks again, Keith!! You're the man!!

Nobody is ever an inconvenience. I prefer customers to call because it gives me a chance to get them and their use of their truck figured out. This assures the perfect system for them and their situation.

once I get that figured out tho, it’s on! I have a hand written order sheet that is a ‘formula’ for how it’s built and I can scream thru that sucka!! Haha

thanks for your order!! Hit me back with any questions.

I think what I’m looking for is something with the sound level of the 6” system but with a deeper tone. On my previous truck I had gone with the 6” because I was afraid the 8” wouldn’t be loud enough, but I remember wishing the 6” was a bit deeper in tone.

The 8” is almost as loud as the 6” on every circumstance, except part throttle, plus it’s deeper.

Is the 10" reasonable for long highway drives at 85 MPH and towing? I'm an older fart now and don't want constant loud in the truck.

I think so. I have the 10" and I did a 5 hour drive no problem. That was without the resonator too. Toss that on, and it'll be quiet so long as you dont put your foot in it. If you're still not sure, call Keith and ask him about a 12" system.
