The electoral college system gives all 50 states a voice. The founding fathers were wise to do it. Without the EC a handful of the most populous states would determine election outcomes and take away many states voices.

I watched multiple people sit there and do their research while in the poll voting. There was only about eight booths available and most people were taking 15 to 20 minutes. Somewhere voting when I got there and still voting when I left. I watched these two women copying off each other. By the looks of them I knew which way they were going to vote anyways. I guess I’m glad they didn’t vote all willy-nilly but still it was irritating.

 

I do think Taxpayers or property owners should get more than one vote; maybe 1.5 or 2 vs. the single vote that everyone gets including "Non-taxpayers". Things might look a bit different in Government then.........

This all day long. I know for a fact people were voting blue just because it’s blue. Not because that person is going to do a better job.

 

Ads on TV for the last primaries had people asking "Alexa" who their rep was and what they stood for. Alexa would discourage the incumbent and encourage the challenger. I will let you guess what information voter they were after.....

 

Actually grew up with my parents / family having the same mentality. Of course they were all Union background workers from the Steel industry.

 

Yup! Even my union was all blue. Sending me stuff in the mail. You can’t even mention the word fox news around here. Most people think I’m a racist because of my feelings towards immigration and the direction I vote. Not true at all. I was debating a little with somebody on FB and showed them some facts through a fox news source. They wouldn’t even look at it. They just said uuuuugh fox. OK. I look at all news sources if you want to be biased towards one, go ahead.

 

It definitely goes both ways. I will vote on both sides after I’ve done my research.

 

It never was and never will be. Democracy will always be doomed. It becomes a death spiral once the government begins decided who gets what (social programs). See LBJ's "great Society" for modern proof. Our founding fathers knew this. It's why we have a representational democracy.

 

I’ll be honest I am registered blue. In high school I didn’t know much about any of it and when I asked my teacher what he thought, he said most people are blue around here. So that’s what I did. I’ve never changed it because a lot of times I feel none of the above. I vote for what’s best IMO And I have been known to leave things blank that I knew nothing about.

 

Another example of California having lost its mind: July 1, 2019 you can no longer receive (purchase, trade, accept) ammo except thru an authorized ammo dealer who, for a $19 fee (tax) will run a background check to ensure you're not a prohibited person (and perhaps less obviously, track what you bought, when, and how much). Indeed. And while it appears components are not covered by these laws, we wont know for sure until all the regs are out. Remember, CalDOJ has full reign here to do as it pleases (and can get away with). And they're well known for stepping outside the wording of a law to include many things not otherwise intended. Stay tuned...

 

TBD if you just committed a felony. Assuming out of state vendors will sell to you. Many will 'play it safe' on the advise of their lawyers and not.

CalDOJ is WELL known for traveling to places like say, Reno, checking for CA license plates in the gun show parking lot, then following those plates back across state lines before pulling the vehicle over. You can expect more of the same, especially since their budget was just increased dramatically...

Of course, gone will be the days of ordering the best deal you can find online. You now get to have it shipped to your FFL, who wont like you bought it from someone other than them, and might just start charging transfer fees above the CA tax... just like they do for firearms.

 

A lot of times I have no choice because my party isn’t in there. Mostly it’s policies. Sometimes I don’t agree with something that they’re trying to get me to vote yes/no on.

I knew one day America would come to an end....just never thought I would see the start of it during my life time. Yet, here we are riding a bullet train to destruction.

At the end of the day I love my state and my country. I’m trying to do the best I can to do my part. I try not to be stubborn and biased towards anything without understanding it completely. This state can be great if it was ran right. But there is no one answer to make everyone happy. I do feel that the entire world is in self-destruct mode. I am a stepfather and chose not to have anymore children because I feel bad about the world I’d be leaving them in. It scares the shit out of me wondering what this place is going to be like in 50 years. I think it’s gonna look like Tijuana or some Third World country.
