I feel for you CA guys. My brother is still there and on his way out as soon as he retires in a couple of years. Can't blame him.

We're headed up to Sacramento next month to spend some time with him and the SIL. I'm actually thinking about heading up thru Nevada and cutting over in Reno instead of the usual I-10 to I-5 route just so I can give less to CA thru gas fill ups.

Thats the kind of prices you get when your states only incentive it hands out, is the incentive to get your ass up and go to work or you die of hunger.

 

Are you saying you get incentives? They definitely don’t do anything like that here. The more I make the more everything costs.

 

I'm sorry.... that must really suck. I've have a few military biddies from up in norcal. I told them to just leave and come over here . They all said the same thing... That's their home. I do understand that. I hope that y'all in California get to change some of that craziness that is going on with the money. I hear them post stuff on Facebook all the time about it. I am sorry that they take your money so much though. You worked for it and it's yours. But im not going to make this any more political than it is already .

well.... itemization just became harder with the new tax plan so I doubt anyone will be able to write it off. in order to itemize, you have to have more than the standard deduction which is now $12,000 per person or $24,000 for a married couple (with the new tax plan, you also lose the $4,000 per person personal deduction). for me, adding up my mortgage interest, property taxes, car registration, donations, and every other item that I can come up with will never be more than $24,000. hell, I am lucky to reach half of that.

but speaking to the registration fee in CA... F that another reason that I am glad that I do not live in CA anymore. This year, the registration for my truck was $79.

 

So, how do all the "South of the border" folks afford this in Cali? They get a waiver or subsidy? Just curiuos.....

I moved out of Irvine, CA in 2010 for Denver, CO. I have not looked back, but I do miss the beach. With that said, CO still screws you on registration. I just bought a 2018 SR5, and had a $920 registration bill for one year. Next year it will fall to $690!
