Just got my first registration renewal. $488. Seems kinda high, is everyone else in California paying this much?

for registration or insurance ? That's insane. Wait...we are talking yearly renewal fees here not one time sales taxes. Is that what you meant ?

You'd think with those kinds of fees, our roads would be among the best in the nation. Not even close....

I'm pretty sure it would have to be a cap. Don't think you'd get away with it with just a tonneau cover.

Roads are paid for by gas tax. When we pay property tax here in SC, 98% of the taxes go to public schools.

Nope. The registration with the taxes was over 5k

With our city and county fees for bridges it was rediculous.

I think CA will let you de commercialize no cap needed but you cannot be caught ever using the bed for transporting anything or tow anything. Not 100% sure

I had Cali friends drive up and buy car/truck in Oregon. No sales tax. Drive back to Cali. Save a lot of $$$$. No doubt, Cali GOV Moonbeam has made that impossible by now. Got to spread/share the wealth :censored:.

Funny. I turned down an opportunity in Oregon (Portland/Seattle) last year. Looks like a beautiful state, but they couldn't pay me what I wanted to raise a family out there.

Oregon is a beautiful state. Has mountains like CO and a BEACH. (The DUCKS too..) I'd be back there now but not much opportunity in my field. Eugene/Roseburg and even Grant's Pass (Wheelers Offroad) and Ashland is very nice. Portland has been F***ked up for quite some time. Lets face it. You can't move away from CO/ToyTec. You are stuck here..... (2017 Truck Fest???) (Alaska??? Yeah!!):mudding:

Oregon is similar. Property taxes for schools. Here in CO we have the TABOR law= no new taxes without voter approval. The powers that be running this state (for now) decided to add additional registration "fees" (not taxes) to pay for road/bridge "use". A lot of roads and bridges still suck here. Where did the added "fee" $$$$ go??? Yes............Just sayin

Slow but surely. "North to Alaska" again? I'll wait it out. My CO property is located in an anti Cali fornicate part of the state.

"Social Justice" programs and anti gun measures, anti fracking measures, green energy, who knows? Definitely not a lot on roads and bridges. Not enough anyways.
