I was reading through the notes I’ve taken from this thread. One of them is:
“Fog holes on overland bumper are a little too small for DD SS3s. Trim hole a little bigger??”

Did you cut the bumper fog holes larger or trim the edges of the SS3s? How’d you get them to fit in there? I thought they sat behind the bumper hole?

Folks who’ve already install the overland bumper:
I was watching the install video today and it looks like the oem tow hooks can’t be reinstalled after the bumper goes on because an angled piece of metal is in the way. True?

I was able to keep the hooks with my SSO bumper & had assumed it was the same with this one.

Say bye bye to those bad boys. It’s not a big deal though cause you have 2 tow hooks on the new bumper

I assumed you meant the shackles you can put on the front. Is that not what you mean?

The bumper comes with 2 D-ring tabs which makes it easy for recovery. I use them all of the time with soft shackles. Hope this answers your question!

Anyone else waiting on their bumper also doing some winch shopping? IDK how often I will use the winch so not looking to spend the life savings. Smittybilt just launched their Gen 3 X20 so the Gen 2 should hopefully be discounted. I've seen them before as low as $500 but the lowest I can find is $600. LMK if anyone looking for winches find any deals and am open to suggestions to other brands except the badlands.

I added the X20 to my Honey Droplist, and one night it notified me of a price drop. Snagged it for a deep discount and within hours the price was back up. I add all kinds of crap to my droplist now because of that :spending:

I have used my badlands 12k winch with synthetic line in some bad situations. Never has let me down. I pulled my tundra and boat up a ramp last week for 2 hours and not once did it think about giving up on me. Nothing wrong with it at that value.

+1 on this. I have several friends who have badlands and their winches have never let them down. These are guys that go out to test their limits and get a lot of use out of their recovery gear, including their winches.

never heard of the honey drop list. Where did you purchase? I was eyeing it on the bezos machine for around 580 but it went back up. Did you get it yet? How do you like it?

I can't buy the badlands because of personal reasons. HF is a competitor in my field so I can't...well I shouldn't buy from them. But i'm glad you like it and I know their winch is good value.

Oh yeah I’ve had it for about two years now and zero complaints.
I ended up getting mine from four wheel drive hardware via ebay for $350 shipped. 113% sure it was a pricing mistake but to my surprise it ended up at my door for not a penny more!
Honey is a browser extension you add to google chrome and the like. It finds coupon codes, deals, gives you cash back, and etc.

How often do you plan on actually using your winch? As in, do you offroad a lot or a weekend warrior?

The reason that I say that is because I would go with the cheaper one. I have the warn 12S evo and love it. Use it a decent amount to recover buddy's when we offroad but I did not have to pay full price. One of the vendors (I won't name drop cause he gave me a hell of a deal) goofed up and gave me a quote for a smittybuilt winch and realized that it was out of stock. So he hooked me up and gave me a warn for nearly the same qoute. Don't get me wrong, warns are great but I personally wouldn't pay full price for one. I would prob go with smittybuilt or badlands (understand your personal reason for not using HF)

I live in the city but go to the mountains occasionally. We just had our first snow here in like 2 years. If im honest with myself ive never winched or needed one. I just figured id stuff in the bumper anyway. Id love to start wheelin but idk how much i will get to. The smitty seems like a good choice for the price and my infrequent need.

Just got my notifications that my bumper was shipped! Expected delivery is February 2nd. For reference, for anyone that is waiting for a bumper, I ordered mine a week before Black Friday and the price increase.

Getting it sent to the shop that is going to install and wire up all those pretty lights!
