What's up guys, pick up my first truck on Tuesday (2018 black limited crewmax w/premium) coming from a life of always driving a bunch of depreciating sports cars and stuff (911s, m3s, etc, currently driving jaguar xfr-s), thought i wanted a jeep... Drove one, then drove a tundra and the rest is history.

Was going to post in New members but i have questions since There are so many truck mods I'm not used to my mind is spinning:

    1) does trd exhaust drone? I'm getting older and i like hearing the skinny pedal but do a lot of highway driving.

    2) does the trd sway bar really do anything if I'm not going to be towing?

    3) on these trucks do cold air/exhaust effect anything other than noise?

    4) tonneau, leds interior/exterior, de-chrome, anything else i should look into? (Wheels/tires/lift probably coming after the tread on the stock ones wear)

Sorry for the novel and thanks in advance...

    Welcome from Colorado

    1. I don’t believe it does. Pretty quiet until you give it some gas from what I’ve read
    2. Reduces body roll so it will corner better.
    3. Talking about a cold air intake? If so, not much performance gains from what I’ve read also
    4. All of the above. If you plan to lift after your current tires wear out, the I suggest you get off this forum. I said the same thing and lasted 6 months without lifting
Plenty of ideas out there. Just bring :spending:

Guess I'll have to hear the trd pro in person since youtube doesn't really make it sound like much but i know people here rave about it.

Guess I'll be adding the sway bar

At least for now the truck is going to be a daily and mostly used for highway so can't go crazy with wheels/lift... I'm used to being 6-8" off the ground in my cars so the height i will have in the tundra will be good enough until i need new tires and give my bank account time to recover lol

Only difference between limited w/premium package & platinum is the nut coolers and i used those maybe 3x in the past 5-6 years that I've had em in previous cars, not worth the 5k extra for me

A little of this and a little of that.

If you're serious about an exhaust look into @dirtydeeds . He makes exhausts perfectly for our trucks. And they sound awesome.

Well my will power must be pretty good. I’ve lasted three years without getting a lift. But guess who’s looking into a lift now? This guy! I will say I’ve spent ridiculous amounts of money on all sorts of stuff on the truck. To the random person, it doesn’t look like I’ve done a damn thing. But it’s there!

Of course I’d love some 3.0 LOL but I’m trying to snag up the pro suspension for sale here. At this point even if that doesn’t go through I’ve got the bug. I can’t justify 2-$3000. I’m looking to just go 2 inches in the front and eventually lift the rear. I like the factory rake or somewhere close to it. Level looks awesome but the minute you put anything in the rear it’s a bro truck. I want to be able to tow. I don’t want to be over flexing the springs in the wrong direction so I would need to think about extending a bump stop or timbren, sumo etc. So much to choose from!

    See fine print
Welcome! And 911’s don’t depreciate! Actually the opposite!

Another one for @dirtydeeds exhausts. Sounds great and he tunes hem for most power. TRD exhausts would be the second runner up if Keith didn’t exist.

If your truck is mostly a street truck the trd sway bar is great. I have one and I think it’s worth every penny. Makes the truck corner more planted.

I have a bully dog bdx tuner and it wakes the truck up if you want a little pepiness. But to take full advantage of it you need to run premium fuel.

You’ll find lots of info just searching around here.

I suggest installing a supercharger, front & rear sway bars if you are coming from 911, M3....

Once you go German, power & performance destroys your life.....

Platinum uses leather that would be found in a Lexus, Limited uses some synthetic crap. I'm not a fan of the seats in my limited. I'm sure there's a few other things that brings the price tag of the Platinum up, just don't know off the top of my head.

They call it softex.... it feels like a garbage bag on your seat. I just bought my wife a new rav4 wanted to go platinum on that but couldn't sit on that crap. Ended up with loaded up adventure rav4 with cloth seats

I have a BMW and like the performance but I really like being able to see over the traffic...again. My son stole my 4Runner.

My wife wanted all the bells and whistles and I told her it was a truck. She could drive the Lexus or BMW with the seat heaters and coolers, 20 way seat adjustments, dual zone climate control, etc.

My TRD dual exhaust only makes a noticeable noise when I accelerate. I plan on getting a cover, bedliner or mat, running boards or sliders in the near future.

Some days I wish the TRD exhaust had more of a sound on idle, and then some days I'm really glad it doesn't lol :)

On the days I wish it had more of a sound on idle, I get in and press a little harder on the skinny pedal...always satisfies.

Thanks guys, from my memory the only differences between the limited & platinum that I saw were moonroof (i always keep mine closed in any car, plus now I can roll down the back window), nut coolers (which i never use either), memory seats (just bought the wife a car so she aint driving my truck) and the leather, which to be honest I really didn't notice a 5k difference to justify getting a platinum over a limited w/premium package.

So do I, especially when another truck comes up.

I will admit I do miss the sun/moon roof. Every car I've had in the last ten years has had one, even my Honda Civic. Being without one now just seems wrong somehow. Oh well, it's a truck.
