BLUF When I was in the market for a full size pickup I checked out F150. I loved the interior i.e. normal "electrical outlets" (wife love them too). Then I read a report on the most reliable vehicles on the market which retains its value the Tundra was the only full size pickup on the list. I saw a 2010 Tundra with 120,000 miles sell for over $20K. I was sold.

I owned a Ford truck and it was the biggest piece of garbage I ever owned!!!! By 15,000 miles it was in the shop every couple of months and because it was under warranty, the dealership would take their time repairing it each time it went in. I contacted Ford corporate to try to get some answers and it all fell on deaf ears! In a 3 month period I spent over 70 days without my truck and I’m a contractor who needs the truck every day. The dealership kept coming up with excuses as to why my truck would just sit and not be repaired until I contacted the Better Business Bureau and then they seemed to speed things up!

    Not nearly enough room here!
F-150 owner's I know will assure you, that if you buy several over a five year period, you'll eventually end-up with a good one! What does Ford build, 5-6 F-150's for every Tundra? It has to average out sooner or later!:D

I also wouldn't expect a 2017 F150 (a design that hasn't changed since 2015) to have a dozen recalls for eight separate issues but they do...

Since 2018s, the 5.0s have major issues with their plastic oil pans and plasma lined cylinders.

I have a 17 f150 5.0 and have had 2 recalls. I don’t know where they get their stats from.

Now the NHTSA only shows 7 recalls for 2017. I had searched by VIN previously when I was still looking for a truck and a coworker offered to sell me his 2017 3.5EB Lariat.

Go to the F-150 forum and read about all their issues. That should be enough.

Electrical issues, bad resale, bad reliability, expensive to fix aluminum bodies. Enough said.

Resale is close to tundra. In fact in canada where i live it very close as all the used f150 get brought to the states due to high resale value down there.

I use NADA and go back about 5 model years to see how much vehicles are worth a lot of dealers use this as well around me. You can select what options etc on the make and model and then it comes up with rough trade clean trade etc and Certified resale pricing. I tend to take the Best resale articles from journalist with a grain of salt because 9 times out of ten half of the vehicles on that list do not hold their value here. Location is everything.

For the fourth quarter of 2019, Ford reported a net loss of $1.7 billion, or 42 cents a share, compared with a loss of $100 million, or 3 cents a share, a year earlier. The quarter included a loss of $2.2 billion due to higher contributions to its employee pension plans, something it disclosed last month. That should be a good enough reason!

My cousin owns a 2016 with same miles as my tundra it books for 10000 less? My father in law owns a raptor paid 70k it’s hardly worth 30k. Under 100k miles that’s a big margin that margin is what I paid for my truck. And it’s still worth 35k stock all day. I don’t go off journalist and reports like you linked. To many unknowns from the source and to me isn’t real world evidence. I’ve worked for companies that lease them every 3 years I know long time ford owners and I can say they don’t hold up and they aren’t a good investment. I do think ford has some cool features and specs to say the least. I like the direction they are going but I’ve seen more bad then good. Our local Toyota owner went out and bought 4 or so local dealerships including ford he ended up selling that ford dealership not even a year later that tells you something

Where does a Raptor resale for that little? Bring it out to Alberta, you'll get 60k especially if it's the V8

If you swap trucks after three years then go for it, it might be ok that amount of time.

Ignorant yota fans. I dont need to post a pic for anyone. Some kind of creeper trying to get pics off the internet?

i like toyota too. I just keep an open mind in life. Try it some time. You can look me up on 4runner.org if you really want to see pics and upgrades my wife and i have done to our truck.

someone who can think outside the box in life calls you guys on your ignorance and suddenly I'm a troll? Haha. Go ahead call me a troll. Your still ignorant. Thing is you can’t fix ignorance. Clearly I've wasted my time here on a homer site.

btw. My wifes 4 runner has spent just as much time in a shop as my 150. Shes also had rattle and issues with fit and finish. Toyota has been great though and fixed everything. Way better than the ford dealer near my place. Had to go to a second ford dealer, who has been awesome. Both our vehs are 2017 with 50k kms. Well see which one holds up better in time.

Raptor's go for stupid up here. For reference a used 2019 was listed at $110k - MSRP is only $90k for top line up here. I don't get it, but there's still a few people up here with too much money.
