Resale is definitely impressive. My 07 tundra last year was listed about the same price as a 2014 f150 at the same place. The ford was average milage and in great looking condition.

I really enjoyed my tundra. It was a great truck. As far as features go, really it just needs a better base radio/speakers. The lack of Android Auto and Apple carplay is really odd for any manufacturer. Especially with entune is as awful as it is. I realize it's coming to some other vehicles but it's amazing it took this long.

The motor is really capable but the gas mileage is pretty low for 2019 standards. (yes, I know. A truck blah blah blah. Let me tell ya, I didn't care about gas mileage, I still don't. I work from home and average about 6.5k-7k miles a year or so. But 14mpg average for a 2wd full size is pathetic at best. Especially for something that only makes ~400hp 400lbft.)

Other than that, if I has to do it all over again, I'd probably get a Ford with the 5.0. Maybe when Toyota's redesign of the tundra comes out I might change my mind.

I had a Ford 2015 150 5.0. Was going to go 4wd in 2019. Started reading the forums on the latest 5.0. Nothing but issues. Really ridiculous for an engine that has a decent history. They keep changing the damn thing and ended up ruining it.
The forums are full of horror stories concerning the turbo models. I went with the Tundra.
Tundra really really needs to offer a diesel option.

Ford has nicer steering wheels. Higher payload. Better paint. Thats about it.

I don't care what you buy but I can tell you that F-150's are trending about $2,000 higher than this same time last year, why?
Rebates are lower than last year. I would wait it out a few months if you want a F-150.

Those are legitimate aspects that will be important for alot of ppl.

When you say paint, are you meaning visually or quality?

I think the higher payload is on paper only. There are several people on the Texas Fishing Forum complaining about their sagging rears

Fords dont come with turn signals either. Apparently.

On my hour drive to work I notice things. Ford and Dodge drivers never ever use signals.

Quality of paint, just an opinion. My Toyotas get the same lack of being waxed my Fords did, but toyota paint seems to scratch easy, and the sheet metal dents if you fart to hard in its direction from less than 10 feet away

Nothing against the Ford, but Dearborn and union folks working because they have to. San Antonio, non union shop and working because they like to. You figure the "stack up". I just know that I have been driving Toyota vehicles for a few years and most of my "out of cycle" maintenance requirements are from my own doing. Unlike driving a MOPAR or GMC of FORD, these cars do not "break themselves" because of design constraints.

So, two issues are against you with the "big three"; Obsolesence/reliability design intent, and then the "Quality" issue. I know I am setting myself up for hate mail, but it is your money. Spend it wisely.

I would like to make another note about a recent Ford experience . Rented a 2019 15 passenger ford transit van, took the family up to yellowstone with it from Denver. Had to run the wipers alot. One of the last days we had it, the WIPER MOTOR FAILED! After it cooled for 15 minutes it started working again, but still. No shitbox I have ever owned did that over 25 years of owning cars. The van had 2k on it, was practically new.

What a lot of people don't realize is that even the high-GVWR variant of the F-150 is still using axles, brakes, tow hitches and differentials that are comparable, in some cases inferior, to the components used on the Tundra. I think the only major changes made by Ford are to some parts of the frame and the actual suspension

Ford tends to squeeze the highest tow and payload ratings that it can from its existing platforms/designs. Heck, the base F-150 uses the same rear differential as the Ranger (8.8") which is comparable to what the Tacoma uses.

Toyota tends to over-engineer its trucks but underrate them (or rate them conservatively).

So if you want the highest payload/tow ratings on paper, get the F-150. If you want a robustly built truck that is somewhat better suited to being overworked, get the Tundra.

My friend and I had 97 an 98 F150s. He bought his second F150 about 2012. I bought my Tundra in 18, and he has commented he likes the 5.7 l engine a lot in the Tundra. He says the 5.0 ford is not good for towing.

The only reason I'd take a F150 over a Tundra is for the added towing/payload capacity. And that's only if I was unable to buy a diesel HD truck and was forced to buy a 1/2 ton

Are they not using the same J2807 standards as Toyota? The F150 with max tow package crushes the Tundra on payload capacity even if some of it is fluff. Manufacturer numbers do matter when it comes to liability, staying within the limits and law.

    Not nearly enough room here!
I see Fords and Dodge use signals all the time.....AFTER they're already in the "Turn Only Lane", or they engage it, WHILE they're turning. I guess it's really nobody's business what their intentions are anyway!:D

Blowing a spark plug out of the cylinder head @ 78,000 miles on my otherwise pristine 8 year old F150 talked me out of buying another F150.

But maybe 12+ pages of blah blah blah may dissuade the OP from chosing badly...

Sold my Tundra and bought a F-150.

I’m waiting till the next gen Tundra comes out and will buy one if they don’t murder it. Love my old truck right now. I jumped on it because I like projects and couldn’t resist. Still miss my tundra for trips

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
Everyone has their stories and naturally we are a little bias since we are all on a Tundras forum.
Get the one you want, everyone else's opinions are just that.

My experience... 1 recall with my 2016 Tundra. (rear bumper bracket), my neighbors 2018 Ford Raptor has had 5 recalls for various things, nothing major. After spending some time in the Raptor I will say it rides nice, and performs well, plus has some features the Tundra doesn't have.
Everyone that says the Tundra is outdated isn't wrong, but the flip side to that is they've had over a decade to perfect the design, so anything that the Tundra is likely to fail on probably already has on another truck.

Get the one that appeals to you and is going to make you the most happy, has the features you really need. Your the guy writing the check. Cheers.
