Do you have one of those new phones that have removed the option to capitalize?

I think OP asked an appropriate question... as have other new members that chimed in saying they were contemplating the same thing.
Sure, you can assume laziness in research, but asking actual owners what they think of their vehicles ("What would you say to convince me to buy a Tundra") isnt a bad question.. sure - asking tundra owners on a tundra forum is going to get a lot of "unbalanced" opinions about how awesome their truck is, but there seems to be some reasonable suggestions closer toward the middle of the two ("If you want bells and whistles go F150, if you want reliability, go Tundra") than way out in "If you don't buy a Tundra you're stupid" land.

They are two trucks in the same class of trucks. There is a comparison between the two and tons of professional reviewers have compared them. Yes, there are tons of differences, but generally they are marketed to the same audience (those looking to buy "1/2ton" trucks). The biggest factor isn't really research - you do have to do some research to figure out what options are available - really the biggest factor is priorities: Do you prioritize reliability above bells and whistles enough to go for a Tundra over a Ford? Or do you want to roll the dice with a Ford and see if you can luck out and not spend time in the shop (beyond regular maintenance) for the first 100k mi? What if your just going to trade it in before the first tire change anyway?

Most of us took the reliability or resale value or brand loyalty for previous experiences of reliability/resale. When the next generation of Tundras come out, we wont have the reliability numbers we do on this 10 year old powertrain. Not saying it wont be reliable, just that it will not have been market tested for a decade.

That's my thoughts on it anyway.

i didn't know this was a grammar test, or here for a BA in English. thread title was regarding F150.

I will add that shopping for the KR in Nov 2017 (delivery was Feb 2018), was an eye opening experience. dealers would ask if the tundra was being traded and i when i informed them "No", they had a puzzled look on their face. Seeing the market today, shopping and driving both the 6.2 Chevy 1500, and the 5.0 KR, really opened my eyes. My tundra isnt going anywhere, but im am very much aware of where my truck stands.

ive also pointed out the shortcomings i found during my personal experience with the F150, the ecoboost wasnt even on the table. yet 98% of the F150s on the lot were ecoboost trash. and the panoramic roof was also a travesty. The KR was ordered with panoramic delete for that reason.

only time will tell how these two vehicles will play out, in my experience. in almost 40,000 miles my tundra has never returned to a dealer lot... ever, for anything (including recalls).

I imagine most people cant afford, or have different priorities which dont allow them to afford, 100k+ in trucks lol
That makes sense to me as far as the puzzled looks from dealers go :)

Don't turn this into a pissing match gentlemen.....

I have driven the big 3 for many miles (not just test drove).... the only one that performed worth a shit in everything i had to (yes HAD to.... not chose to) was the Ram 2500. The others were a waste of my time and only pissed me off because they couldn't do what was needed regularly.

I have also owned 2 of those 3 (Chevy & Ford). Neither one was up to MY standards.

I hate all the nannies they put in the trucks these days (more nannies...more issues)and i hate feeling like I'm driving a car not a truck. that being said.... yes I am in the process of putting certain things in my truck that I WANT/NEED. Still cheaper than having it on the truck when i buy it.

This is the 2nd Toyota i have ever owned and wish i never let go of my first one. I'm glad I'm back in it. And yes....i think the tundra is sexier than any of the big 3.... but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :p

    tubers hahahaha

    btw.. I'd piss further.

I agree with the nannies. was a pain when looking at cars/suv's over the last few purchases. I get trying to limit the RPMs for gas mileage savings.. but when I push the peddle down I want it to GO.. not sit there and think about "Well, maybe he wants better fuel economy and not go..." We ended up in Kia's because they had great prices, great options, great reliability, and when I push on the peddle I get the response I'm looking for. the Equinox we owned for a while I. HATED. for that reason. The 2013 Optima and 2015 Sorento we traded the optima for drive much smoother and still get decent gas mileage... the Subaru I wanted was just too far out of our price range to even test drive haha

It isn't scraping the bottom of the barrel. Toyota has had plenty of recalls. I am not pushing Ford at all....I think they suck.

I am just saying that Toyota isn't flawless. My Tundra hasn't had that great of a track record. I have come close to selling it a few times because of it. Now my 4runners....those have been flawless.

At least with the current Tundras we know what to look for in most cases. and It's generally a "quick" fix. You're not likely to have your truck in the shop for a week for diagnostic surgery only to get it back with a shrug.. or worse they find the problem "fix" it and you're back shortly with the same issue... or get the ol' "It's a known issue we dont have a fix for yet" Heard many of those stories mostly related to the turbo'd engines going into limp mode.

I bought my Tundra for reliability and resale value. Plus the Tundra looks so much better!

I wouldn't talk anyone out of buying anything. Not my cash.

Not sure what rational person would think that with so many parts that go into a running automobile.

They statistically have the least issues.

Yeah, but I am not sure what rational person would buy a Ford these days, either. But a whole crap ton of them do. Guess that means that there are plenty of not very rational people out there.

I disagree. It doesn't matter if it is a 3rd party part. It still ends up on their vehicle - thus it is their responsibility. Plus, I am not sure that Ford actually manufactures the gears and such. And if they do - I know that they don't make their own metal. So, if a gear goes south because of metallurgical reasons - does Ford get to skip blame and put it on the metal plant? Maybe - but it doesn't matter - the recall affects the auto manufacturer - and that is what the public sees. They don't care if some metal plant is putting out crap steel. All that they care about is that their Ferd is broken.
