so while I'm waiting at the dealship for them to change the oil/rotate tires I got some info on an extended service plan. I have right at 90k miles. They offer a 3-4 year plan which covers all major expenses on the vehicle. Since there is nothing wrong with the truck expect I noticed the valve covers leaking (which is probably the cam towers ) I was thinking about pulling the trigger on the ext warranty. I seen a thread about a dealer selling the warranty in Co for a good price. Could I purchase the warranty threw them? All this warranty stuff is new to me so any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have to be careful because they many times will void the warranty if you don't follow specific maintenances and intervals. Id get the service guys opinion on it.

That's a good thing to consider. Me personally I bring it in every time it needs servicing. I have. Car fox print out of everything done to the vehicle which is just services and oil changes. Thanks for bringing that up

Your free to purchase through anyone which makes pricing nice! Brian has and continues to provide a lot of people great deals! Be careful with some dealerships, some offer 3rd party - not the Toyota plan.

He does take a bit of time sometimes to get back with people, I hear anything from a few days to a week or so. You'll be happy though with the wait. Feel free to call or email him. He takes check or CC over the phone, paying via CC makes the process go much quicker.

@14burrito thanks for the info! I was just a little unsure about buying out of state coverage and having the local dealer do the work. But I guess it makes sense that they can. I need to get the valve cover leak issue under control to easy my mind lol.

From posting on other sites, Toyota used to "border" so you could only buy in state. Seems that has since been lifted or what have you. Just from my few posts, I am aware of at least 50+ people that have bought out of state :) - you'll be all good!

    Side note
I never thought id need one for a Toyota, previous Toyotas ran with no problems. But all these valve cover stories I see and the fact that my t-case was already replaced at 8k miles...figured it to be good insurance for the RIGHT price. No way was I going to pay upwards of 2500 like some quotes I got were asking.

I'm glad they did lift that ban! I hear you on that. My 06 Tacoma gave me zero problems and I ran the dog crap out of it on 35's. Then I get a newer Tundra and find out about the cam tower issues. I definitely don't want to pay an arm and leg to have that fixed.

If you can get extended Toyota extra-care, it is worth much more than aftermarket. They are by far the best to work with. Aftermarket warranties are hit and miss. The dealer I used to work at sold some snake oil warranties that would void if you went 5501 miles in between oil changes. If you didn't change the AF & CF at 30k intervals, plug, etc... Any aftermarket components they will fight tooth and nail on. Before you buy find someone who has used it before.

I purchased from Brian as described by @14burrito. It is an official Platinum Toyota plan which you can see at: https://www.toyotafinancial.com/pub...le_service_agreements/new_vehicle?plans-new=1

My advice is to send an email to Brian with your year, model, mileage, and purchase date. The plans vary in price depending upon model, miles driven per year and how long/miles you expect to cover it for. He will explain the rules and let you know the cost and then it is up to you if you want to take the offer. If you accept the offer, he will send you some paperwork to sign; you return it with a check. A few weeks later, the official Toyota paperwork arrives.

You could also call your local dealer and compare the program Brian offers to their cost for the same coverage.

    I hope this helps you.
