There’s a few Barcelona Red Tundras in my area and truthfully if I were to order my Tundra last year it was have been my first pick. I don’t even really like red vehicles but it’s looks so damn good in person. I love the cement as well but Barcelona Red…HOT DAMN! I am so tired of owning white, black, silver, and gray vehicles.

I love black when clean & polished up, no swirling. White right behind that. Silver & grey – masculine but kinda meh for me.

BRM – panties be droppin'. :)

I'll have to keep this in mind for my next truck because my wife said no to red for this one. I like MGM but I also would like to see more vehicles in colours other than black, white, grey or silver.

I was really hoping for a dark blue or dark green, but no dice this time.

Nice. Your and your buddy’s trucks are my other two favorite Tundra colors.

For my needs, the Tundra does everything and more, imho this is the best looking truck on the market and unless you're towing or hauling at max capacity every day (which in that case you might have considered a heavy duty truck) the Tundra is more than sufficient. Plus you're buying a known quantity, this truck has been around for 14 years. You know exactly what to expect from it and as you can see from this forum, 20 years later, you will still have your truck because these things are the most reliable trucks on the market

My test drive was in a Cement Gray. Only truck on the lot. I like it a lot, just wasn't certain about long term loving it in the driveway. It does make those red tail lights "pop" though. Head turning color for me, every time.

I've had two wheel drive trucks in Oregon and lived there for 10 years during winter months put about 1,000 lbs. of weight in bed behind cab, blocks, firewood or whatever you got, along with narrow snow tires never had a problem and did a lot of skiing. I liked the 17 / 18 mpg combo driving of a two wheel drive. Does Iowa allow studded snow tires or chains if you really need to get out?

Good question. Don't know. Will have to research. I think siped tires would be sufficient.

In Canada 2wd trucks are unheard of. We have so much snow and ice that those trucks would be borderline useless for 7-8 months of the year.

Well, I wanted a Superduty. I drove one and loved it.... but I wasn't going to drop 80K +10K dealer markup on a truck that is plagued with moonroof leaks, dust in the paint and other quality/reliability issues. Plus, when I starting actually "thinking" about rationalizing the expenditure of $100K for a factory stock truck, I started to wonder about my own sanity. I think at $100K I would look for a mid-life crisis mobile like a Porsche instead. The F150 is a cool truck too but it was also pricey AF when you start adding in the cool stuff and I've also read about reliability issues. Ok yeah, so the Tundra is a gas guzzler, long in the tooth design, etc, etc. But, my Tacoma has 222K miles on it and it has literally only ever "needed" gas, oil and tires since I bought it new in 2008. Two years ago I finally caved and invested in new shocks...big deal. I have to believe the Tundra is going to be the same way in terms of reliability and cost of ownership. The only thing I really don't like about my new Tundra is the uncomfortable driver's and passenger's seat. I hope Toyota figures this out in 2022 because the front seats are not great. I had a custom pad made for my aging back and its much better on longer trips now. All in all, I think these V8 Tundras are some of the best trucks out there and they will be desirable long after they have stopped being produced.

My 2015 SR5 double cab 4x4 5.7L V8 has been totally reliable since new. There are only two things I can fault it for, after experience a F150 tow max. First is the payload limit, and second is the visibility. The F150 has almost double the payload ability of the Tundra, and visibility is excellent. Do I want to trade in my Tundra for a F150 tow max. NO.

You're right Isaiah, 4 wheel drive is certainly the best way to go but at the time this boy did not know he would be able to change his order and since that time has changed. I was transferred to work in Portland and had 2 wheel drive and did not want to spend the money on new truck after buying a home, so made it work and was surprised how well it worked. Also of note, said I was a skier and been to Vail, Beaver Creek, Steam Boat Springs and all places in Oregon but once up hill trying to get down the 4 or 2 wheel drive still have 4 wheels to stop that will stop the same. I would drive maybe 55 with all those 4 wheel drives passing like I was stopped 70 plus, only to find them down hill in some curve on their side or 4 wheels up, many times. You know what I am talking about, you probably seen that as well.

Good points. I will add that I always prefer to use my trailer vs throwing things in the bed, esp. heavy/bulky things like appliances, furniture, etc. I'd rather beat up my trailer than my truck/bed any day (resale value). For this reason alone, I did not concern myself with payload when purchasing the Tundra or even when evaluating other trucks. I just wanted the most proven & reliable truck platform.

I don't do any heavy towing and only own a 5x8 utility trailer.

A little dramatic I think. While I agree they are uncommon they are not unheard of. It is really only the newer Tundras where they stopped selling them in Canada. It used to come RWD up to around 2017 or so and the fact that all the domestics still offer/sell RWD means there is demand and that they are out there. I drive in plenty of snow regularly in the harsh Canadian winter months and have never felt my truck is useless in RWD mode. Plus, 4x4 does squat if you are on ice.

Looks like a fairly mundane puddle…

in the words of Rudy “two wheel drive trucks… no bueno.”

Not sure how that relates to driving in typical winter snow on roads with appropriate snow tires, but OK. I would agree that off-roading in mud in a massive RWD pickup with ill suited tires is a bad idea (as evidenced by the video). However, I will say that puddle doesn't look that mundane to me, looks initially like he is up to his diff in mud and the LH wheel is up to the middle of the axle. Front looks bottomed out too.

If all you drive on is plowed city roads you probably don't need 4x4 most of the time. But if you are going anywhere else you need it.

Again that has not been my experience after 2 winters with this truck and 5 winters with my F150, both of which 4x4 that was seldom used and never because I needed it. Often on plowed roads but not always and many trips further north where plowing is often not done. Also occasional off road in all sorts of terrain and conditions. Overall is 4x4 better than RWD? Of course. Is it more capable and provide better grip in every situation? Absolutely! However, need is debatable. I would say for many it is preferred (including myself) but many get by just fine without. Like you said we can agree to disagree, just trying to initially support the OP.

Physics is the relation. That Cherokee pulled the truck out in 2WD without even revving up or spinning a tire. It wasn’t buried - it had no traction. That’s standing water - not a mud pit. Notice how there isn’t mud stuck to anything when it rolls out of there?

I’ll keep buying 4x4 vehicles even though I could get by with 2WD 99% of the time. Kind of like owning a gun… you hope you don’t need it but if you do you’ll be really glad you have it. And if we’re spending $50k on a vehicle what’s a few more thousand to make it significantly more capable.

For my situation, 4WD will rarely get used, if ever, in a time of need here in central Iowa, even in the wintertime. Why? Because I work from home and will probably work from home the rest of my career based on current trends. Also, my house is in a suburb where the streets are plowed like clockwork when it snows. I don't off-road and have no particular plans or desire to, though I do camp from time to time. About the only time I can see 4WD being chosen in my travel use-cases is on winter trips out to western South Dakota where drifting over the interstate regularly occurs in the wintertime. Even so, with the prospect of little to no usage of the 4WD, I am spec'ing it anyway on this new truck partially because of "if I ever need it" and because my parents are elderly and live in the western South Dakota where snow could be deep enough to matter (but probably never will be).

I also know that life throws a few unexpected surprises now and then and my older sister lives in an area of Iowa where snowplows don't get to for a good 24 hours after a storm. Same with my parents living at the end of a private gravel road with only intermittent/contractual county maintenance. Even so, these are not die-hard needs, more wants, but I am spec'ing the 4WD anyways. Need is a sometimes overused word and not one I would use for 4WD in my travel patterns. It's all about where you live/work/play, how you travel and how you like to drive - we are all different that way.

I could have easily stuck with 2WD as I really don't need 4WD. Spec'ing it anyways just because.

Interesting email from my sales guy today: "Texas production has moved all over the place in the last few weeks. At one point, your production number got pushed back to September. It's definitely been a moving target. As of this morning, it's showing 8/30 as a production date which should be 9/15 or so as an approx ETA to the dealership. It's only 8/13, so I expect it to move around, but more than likely up and not back. The product holds have really stressed the production line lately."
