You haven't been to my dealership. Yes, there's 2 or 3 vehicles in there, but 99.9% of the time it's for oil changes.

Work in Logistics with many years seniority. Wife and I started on a Plan when married and stuck to it allowing us to be debt free and well set once I retire. Would have been this October, but received an offer I couldn't turn down and now staying to June 24.

That said, the entire industry is well below volume projections for the year. Facilities are dropping work weeks back to 32 hours. Customers are pulling out forcing us to re-think and potentially close facilities.

It's not good at all. I hate contemplating if it crashes what it will look like.

Noted this week in Eastern PA, Local dealer has several Gen 3 Tundra's on the lot and this morning a TRD Pro.

Couple of TRD pro on lot for days in Houston. My fav dealer in Michigan has had two hybrids on lot one for over 90 days.

70k trucks at 7% interest is a hard pill for a lot of folks.

Our volumes are starting to drop a bit as well for general freight.

Intermodal is down quite a bit.

Grain is pretty steady, but it is not peak season for that.

Coal is steady, at least for now but those contracts are usually for a year and they renew between mines, RR’s, and utilities just after the 1st of a given year. Natural gas prices have come down so I’m sure next year coal contracts will be smaller, or cancelled since many utilities own/operate plants that burn either on their grid. When natural gas is dirt cheap they just idle down the coal plant.

Yep. It’s a pill I’m not willing to take.

They can keep that shit right now, $70K for a 1/2 ton is absurd. At the end of the day it’s still a 1/2 ton.

The Ford dealer in Asheville is swimming in F150’s.
Plenty of RAM's and GMC's too.
Tundra's are starting to become much more available and showing some discounts.
Could be the start of the cycle where automakers have plenty of supply.

So you're in a great spot. You've got a truck you can afford and you get to complain about everyone else's!

Pretty easy to afford a vehicle that has been owned free and clear for over a decade. Come to think of it I don’t have any vehicles right now that have a loan on them. Feels good man. Keeps life a bit more simple.

$70K can buy some pretty decent luxury vehicles, some pretty decent sports cars, some pretty capable off-roaders, and some very capable HD pickups. $70K for a 1/2 ton truck that’s not particularly exceptional in any of those categories is questionable value, especially when it can buy a 3/4 ton with nearly as much “luxury” but a lot more truck capabilities.

Yeah freedom is pretty rad, even when it’s the freedom to make questionable value for the money decisions.

You’re into your SR for pretty decent value, and you’ve made modifications that are high quality and functional like the TRD lift vs some silly ass spacer kit. The skid plates on yours probably have battle scars already too.

Now you just need to source an OEM 32 gallon fuel tank, and a tune to bring your SR up to full power if one ever becomes available.

BTW, how does the TRD lift kit ride and handle? You got the full blown version with the new control arms, shocks etc right?

My truck was ~$65k CDN or about ~$49k USD. So super affordable!. It is a nice truck and does have a lot of features that make it more of a Cappuccino runner than a work truck.

I am happy with it so far. Our use is all over the map from Starbucks runs to carrying heavy materials and tools to job sites. It is also our tow vehicle for camping.

I do see the corners cut in the build but had that on our Honda trade in as well. Just have to lower our expectations.

I am sure that Eurodriver is enjoying his as shown in his recent posts. Glad to see the skid plates on that rig with all those hidden stumps! ;)

If we had to get a truck and started over, we would probably end up back with the Toyota group. Maybe even a higher trim so I didn’t have to upgrade everything to get what I wanted. Maybe a Pro would have been a better choice.

Just imagine the coolness of a bright orange truck in the Starbucks drive thru.

That’s a lot more reasonable for a Limited. Unless there’s a deal to be had on a higher trim level Tundra the Limited represents the last bit of the graph where $$$ spent results in approximately equal value gained. Beyond that it seems to be diminished returns.

I am enjoying @Eurodriver and his posts where he is actually working his truck like a truck.

Props to him for using it as a truck, and only doing modifications to address function issues he has with the truck. It’s refreshing to see a guy use a stock truck, find actual limitations for their use and not style concerns; then set about solving those issues with quality solutions. Then taking it and working it some more.

Plus he has two keys. Which is a flex most of you can’t make.

If I end up in a 3rd Gen it will be because of Eurodriver and his real world durability testing. He gives the truck more credibility every time he posts an update.

Funny that you could find this website to come and complain but not before your purchase to do research on your purchase!!! I agree the key thing sucks but not doing any research a head of time is YOUR FAULT and not taking the truck for a test drive before signing the paperwork and handing over the money is again YOUR FAULT!!!!

The bottom line is there's one person in the whole world that could have made this purchase go smoother and that is YOU!!!

Yeah OP it's all your fault that Toyota built a big piece of crap that these people paid $70 k for also. It's your fault because you didn't research enough they say. Thats why they beat you up instead of calling out Toyotas crap like you did. The truth is, it's unacceptable given the price, but this new world accepts all this like its all ok. If you did research here, you would think its the best truck ever, just look how they made it sound like it's your fault and not Toyotas.

Caveat Emptor, not a new concept. Can't fail to do your own due diligence and blame everyone else for you ignorance. Trucks aren't prefect, but neither is Ford, GM, or RAM.
