I too have the Toyota (Amp) step. Bought it online for $185. Well worth it. I use it daily.

Thank you all so much. It looks like we have all the options now. I think the Toyota step is the best option for me. The ladder would probably work, but I'm afraid it would be in the way sometimes. Ordering now. Thanks again.

Don't laugh - a friend of mine carried a plastic step/stool from IKEA in his Silverado dually. And really - Don't laugh, cause though I'm 40 i consider carrying one myself...

I always carry a 4’ ladder in my bed, but I’m a carpenter so I need it anyway.

    Not nearly enough room here!
I had a "thrifty" friend at work years ago who carried one of those too. One Winter day,it snapped on him as he was stepping up to the bed of his truck. 3 months later, (after the surgery), he bought a bumper step.

Well, "winter day" is like 17°C in Arab Emirates, where i live :D
I'd be more concerned with the thing melting in summer :D

If you ever haul a sheet of anything, the tailgate ladder isn't a good solution, imo.
    I bought the AMP step.
