    Just bought a Bully Dog GT for my 2011 tundra and mainly wanna use for towing with my 27ft trailer that can weight up to 8500lbs. I Was curious what tune settings you guys run when towing that had the most success??

    I run the premium tune regularly and the towing tune when towing. Play around with them. Once you DL the tunes then it only takes a few minutes to switch them.

    Nice!! You can store up 2 3 times. I have premium, economy, and towing.
    They have trail and regular tunes as well. Once you have your three it’s pretty easy to toggle them. If you want a tune that’s not part of your three then you have to swap out 1 to fit it on the device.

    I also shut off my seatbelt chimes and speed limiter. I love it because I can monitor my trans temp while I tow as well. Enjoy!

    Don’t forget a beefy battery charger because if it dies during the tune it will brick your truck.

    No you generally have to down load them first.
    Download the bully dog download program off their site and then follow the prompts. Put the micro SD in the usb and put it in the computer and DL to it. Then put back in your tuner and tune your truck.

    @Tundyfundy went well temp wired it to test then hard wired for final install. Love it though....but besides a tune of running all on premium with premium fuel, how do you run your tune set ups when towing and also regular driver(not stock)??? interested to hear, 1st time with a tuner so this is learning process hahah

    Nice! I run premium always if it’s an option. I also keep transmission shifting stock so non-performance shifts. If I want to change the shift points I can hit “beast mode/tow haul”. You can also toggle your seat belt chimes, speed limiter, lighting and set alarms go temp ranges of various components!

    You guys have any issues with the gt tuner ? I have one on the way. Also how is the tow tune do you find the truck staying in gear more or anything noticeable good or bad ?

    Tow tune increases torque over premium tune. Shift points can be altered and also left the same but you can choose when you set the tune. I have zero regrets on my bullydog gt

    Yes run 93 octane for tow and premium tune. The computer will adapt better, less ping/knock, more torque better mpg with 93.

    I do have one question what if I'm traveling somewhere that is out or doesn't have 93 octane would it be ok to get lower octane like a 1/4 tank then fill up with 93 when i find it ?

    Yea that fine i see no issue their. You can even use 91 octane but if you have 93 available definitely get 93. I sometimes carry octane booster on long trips just in case..

    91 is fine. I’m in Cali and can’t ever find 93. I verified this with bullydog. I thought it was actually called the “premium” tune. Not 93 tune.

    Got ya i am very new to this tuning thing. I have just heard that you should run high octane fuel after a tune is done. Not to say exactly what one im sure over 90 is good. Not to mention alot of guys around hear do full custom tunes as well. They definitely use 93 but I'm just learning. Thanks guys for the info.

    @Mnorris1206 if the person who sold you the tuner didn’t un-tune their truck the bullydog won’t work on your truck.
    Unless you pay to have it unlocked.

    Yep I check on all that it's not vin locked! I actually went in amd set the truck yr and make already into the tuner and under the setting it says its not registered

    alright, i'm feeling like a dummy. tried to run the update agent on a new BD platinum. the device told me that it was an old incompatible tune (code #011). FAQ on the website told me to delete all of the files except GTGIDF.GTG and run the update agent again. I did that, and now the device won't even read the SD card. I'm sure I've done something wrong here, but it's pretty frustrating.
