Absolutely, these cosmetic bull bars just wind up being damage multipliers in a real accident.

The tail light guards and brush guards are even worse. They actually act as a brush-catcher, and can push into the body causing paint damage. It’s much cheaper to just replace a tail light or headlight than paint a rear panel.
Although I don’t think the folks that run them see many trails. It’s more for the “look”. Which I don’t care for personally, because I know they are the complete opposite of functional.

    I like that one.
I just want it for the idiot's that don't know how to parallel park and love to back up until they hit your bumper. So that's the only function I need it for.

My truck had one on it when I purchased, the first thing I did to the truck was take it off, I thought it was butt ugly.

Now then, an after market quality steel front bumper, hell yeah!

Try the "front step"/ "skid plate" bar . . . I think that it's OEM. If you search for borla skid plate on ebay or Amazon for Tundra, it comes up. There are also smaller 'light bars' that can act as a subtle bull bar. I am going with the borla step though.

This is my “bull bar”. Hitting a deer is a real possibility in my home state. I used the stock fog light wiring harness to power the 4 18 watt leds. I have a pair of 288 watt leds to go on the hoop but I haven’t installed them yet.

I got the same bumper ( DV8) mounted on my 2017 DC BECAUSE of a deer. Hit one going to work and was a lot cheaper to buy this bumper than it was to fix all the damage. Love this bumper ( about 550$ on eBay with free ship) only thing I haven't done is mount a winch

I got the winch just because the tray was included in the SV8 purchase price.
