    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

You've got the wrong Charles, Chris. I'm the one in an 8 year old Tundra, the other guy is in a classic Aston Martin.

The tricks with an upper are going to be dealing with tolerance stacking that causes it to be picky about lowers and magazines and gassing issues. "Bolt this on, tighten that to proper torque, done" can be found anywhere. Instruction that teaches you how to spot and try to avoid the hard to diagnose stuff that gives you malfunction city when you take your build out to test would also be a good value.

Are they checking the gas port? Are they teaching to check and diagnose cycling or feeding issues you may run across? Maybe gauging critical parts so you can spot potential out of spec problems as you go? How to narrow down issues to the upper vs the lower and to gassing issues vs mechanical/spec issues?

I have helped friends build their ARs.
I have a list of parts and the sites I get them from.
I give it to them then they get the parts at their leisure then come to my house.
I show them how the parts go together then watch them build it.
If they have problems, I will step in.

Yes, you can get a addicted to buying and building ARs.
Over the years I have built for myself and friends.
Of course, most I used to get where the 80% Kits. I had to mill out the lowers. To do that you had to purchase the Mill Kit.
The 80 % Kits cost me $500 shipped.
These are what as known as Ghost Guns because they did not have serial numbers.
Last year I went through all the spare parts I had and built an AR. I then had it cerakoted in a camo pattern.

I have my ex-boss and someone else interested in my camo AR.
I have told them. The first who comes up with the money gets it.
The price for the AR Kit plus cost of getting it cerakoted.

You're going to get better advice from some of the amazing gunsmiths who post on YouTube, guaranteed. These types of class are going to be catered to the entry-level consumer. Entry-level parts, entry-level advice, entry-level expectations.. You might find it's a fun social interaction - but I wouldn't expect a high level of quality or experience.

I've been a firearms enthusiast for a lot of years. I've been probably 20-25 AR platform firearms in that time, and a few other platforms as well. I learned by buying a complete AR and completely breaking it down and putting it back together a few times. Assembly is straightforward and a clever child could figure it out. Fine tuning and troubleshooting can be a little more involved and I think you'll learn more from reading and watching experts on YouTube than you will in this brief class.

Still, if it's not a lot of money to you and it's the way you get your foot in the door you should go for it.

The thing about ARs is all the parts are MilSpec and parts only go on one way. About the only thing that could be different are the size of the pins in the lower and for the last I do not know how many years all of my builds and all the others that I know have been built the pins have been the .154. The AR 10s are not Mil Spec so there are different type/size lowers for those builds. Pretty much there is no said book for building an AR10 that says all parts are interchangeable.

With the ARs one can switch barrels and the bolt assembly that comes with and the same lower can be used for most all calibers. 556, 6.8 6.5 300, 22 and on and on

within the last I do not remember how many years but it has not been long the AR 10s made the seen. There is more explosive action in the barrel of the AR10s! HA!!!

I put a Rock River Arms National Match trigger into my S&W M&P 15 with a C clamp and my kitchen table. Works fine.

Have bought a set of consecutive serial numbered Anderson (Poverty Pony) lowers and all the parts needed for the wife's AR build. When we (finally) build her's I'll order the parts and build mine. Anderson was the only company I found there I could get consecutive serials.

    Aero Precision uppers.

I saw where AIMSURPLUS has Anderson lowers for $34.00 now.......I might would by more but I think I have some dozen or so lowers stacked up.

Caliber will be 6.5 Grendel for both of us so we can do some deer hunting.

I wouldn't. Unless the class is in a machine shop and you are milling receivers from 0% forging.

Now a bladesmith class and forging some stabby things would be cool.

Or a Bruce Piatt in-person class where you build and tune a 1911 from parts would be a good idea for that kind of money.

The hardest thing about building an AR is choosing parts, and the second hardest part is putting in the bolt catch roll pin.

That's not a good idea. The law allows you to make firearms for your own personal use, but you cannot sell it legally without subjecting yourself to the whims and predation of the BATFE.
