I wanted to keep mine within easy reach. Even at 6'6" w/long arms I found down by the cigarette lighters is a long way to reach in the event of an emergency and I need to activate the trailer brakes, so I wanted something that I didn't have to move my entire body to reach and was easily within an arms length.
I relocated my tow haul button over next to the Traction Control and Rear Window Slider buttons. Then I dremmeled out the spot for the three buttons and did some trimming on the side so the P3 could fit. I left the little cubby and used that as my place to mount the L brackets that come with the controller. I had to cut out the top side of the cubby to allow access to activate or enable the trailer brakes via the brake lever.

Along with it being well within reach in the event I need to activate trailer brakes, I liked that the controller isn't protruding out like it doesn't belong. I wanted something that looked clean and almost like it was there from the factory. If I were to ever remove this brake controller I just have to order that new plastic cover and cubby and pop it in place.

Sorry for the poor lighting in the pics.IMG_1118.jpg

exactly. my truck came with a brake cotroller preinstalled, but its all the way down by my shin(near the tpms reset button). relocating it is towards the top of my list.

Is it possible to use this along with said brake controllers for a clean look i was thinking maybe some modification in that bottom area where most have put the brake controller

    Pretty things
I would prefer that factory brake controller to the very basic tekonsha controller installed by the PO. Not sure it would be "compatible" with any other brake controller, but I imagine it wouldn't need any additions to perform the required task.

I have since installed a ScanGauge2 in the factory brake controller spot, so I'm not too motivated to make changes.

It is a really usable location for the aftermarket controller, but I don't like how it's just kinda tacked on there under the rear window switch.
