    Today was not my day.

    This is pretty much an ice cream run, but I wanted to test out my new radiator and cooling system. Well, it didn't go well not once, but twice.

    I noticed my engine temps were higher than normal. This could be a thermocouple issue...no big deal. Well, the first issue, a really crappy design plastic elbow that is 14 years old broke today in the inlet hose to the heat exchanger. That blew out most of my coolant.

    I fixed the hose, used 90% of everyone's water and all of mine to fill the radiator. That didn't fill it by half. I started shoving snow in the radiator to melt down. My hands are now just starting to thaw out. So we were good to go. One of the guys along was pissing in bottles. He went above and beyond to get my Jeep on the trail. Lol

    The trail was just up the road and we got up to the entrance and sure as hell is hot, the gate was closed.

    Well, it happens. I normally call the Forest Service to check if trails are open. Lessons learned for Connor.

    We decided to run another trail close by. On the way over to this trail my melted snow was venting out of someplace. So I stopped and couldn't find out where the damn leak was. It had to be obvious. Lucky for us, I stopped right by a stream. Even more lucky, there was a 1 gallon bottle right by the stream that we used and still is in the back of my Jeep. We filled up the radiator with stream water and found out that the radiator cap was venting off. So I pulled the cooling thermostat to check if there was a restriction. I did get it back to the trailer and tow rig without incident, so might be on to something there.

    Connor was so nice to keep up with my Baja driving so I could get as far as possible before any other issues arises. He took off looking for the other two rigs. Just so happened they were not far behind and Connor just missed them. While he was out looking for those guys, he had the positive battery lead come off and he stalled the mighty 4 cylinder and couldn't restart. That lead to a series of fun adventures for him. He finally figured it out and drove back to where we were.

    I called it a day since driving back from northern Colorado to southern Colorado was going to be as much fun as this morning.

    The other three decided to carry on to another trail.

    I'll let Connor fill in on all his "fun."
